What if so-called "clip thinking" is not a phenomena of modern people exclusively? It is just a type of thoght-flow, inherent in all of human kind throughout it's entire history. And because this phenomena became noticed recently we think this actually appeared recently.

In a thread called “random thoughts”, that's what you're gonna get.

Kamlorn, I don't think clip thinking is really new. I think we have been entertaining ourselves with short attention span media for a long time, and I can think of lots of examples that predated digital media.
Tocky - Thanks for the additional pics. Looks like you really saw a lot in one trip.

Can you give a couple of examples?
For me, it's not about entertainment only. Moreover, I think the case about clip thinking is that it is more rewarding, therefore - more common, popular one. Unlike "coherent thinking".
Even from evolution perspective there are more chances to survive if you can change subject of attention more easily/much faster than others (I think this suggestion needs no examples), or if that subject is more simple, down to earth; the situation is different with "coherent thinking", it is some kind of luxury, usefulness of which is so foggy, that sometimes it's even dangerous.

If you can't explain clip thinking in ten words or less, it's TLDR for me.

When getting off the bus you cannot remember the thought with which you entered it.

The internet isn't responsible for the bad and good qualities it evokes in people. New technologies just make it easier to access them.
But it's not just the technology itself, it's how the people in control manipulate it to achieve their ends. The special thing about the internet is it amplifies everything far more than older technologies and it greatly compresses the time between cause and effect.
Clip thinking isn't a new thing, just a new word for an old thing.
