Honestly I jumped ahead. Here are a few of Hollywood Blvd.
And on and on ad infinitum.
Looks fun. I've only been to Hollywood once on business and didn't really get out except for driving around North Hollywood past Warner Bros. Studios and having a picnic at Griffith Park. Oh and lunch at Porto's Bakery and Cafe. LA County was one of my sales territories years ago and I'd go tour bicycle dealers in the area but rarely got to see any of the cool stuff.

I recall driving up to the observatory and looking around for a bit but we were short on time. Never been inside though. I feel like I need to make a road trip. I also want to check out Walt Disney's original barn used to house his trains on his personal property. It's located on the North side at the Los Angeles Live Steamers Railroad.

i managed to identify the song which the guards usually whistle in thief gold, it's identical to "garry moore -still got the blues" opening riff. I haven't successfully identified what song does the noblewoman hum in thief 2...i'd wager it's a classical choral work

Thanks for the pictures Tocky. Looks like you had a good time in LA. The desert has some interesting spots, but there's so much to do in LA, there's no comparison.
That's cool you got to see the bar at Magic Castle. Did somebody hook you up to get in?
And the nighttime view you saw from the observatory must have been something. The last time I was in LA, I went to the Getty and didn't have time left over to see the observatory. But if I get back again, I'll have to take some pictures of that view for myself. Yours remind me of the ending from Tron.

I just do what I always do. Where other people hang back with trepidation I barge in like I own the place. I may have been able to go further had I been on my own but my wife was fearful. The same thing happened at a tower in London once where I tried to go up but my girlfriend stopped me and during my convincing her that this was likely our only chance to see where some kid had been imprisoned a redcoat beefeater sort in a brass helmet came and told us we couldn't. I soothed his ruffled feathers and got some great shots of him at the same time. Always better to apologize than ask permission.
We didn't just stay in LA. We went to a winery near Antelope Valley (Reyes-second most awful wine I've ever had) and of course Vasquez Rocks where so many movies were shot like Army of Darkness, Short Circuit, Blazing saddles, Star Trek, that episode of Big Bang Theory, and dozens of others.

And we went to the Grand Canyon.

No gas pumps, no picnic table with Sarah Connors name carved in, no skeleton of a helicopter or nothing. I swear if I had it I would not have changed a damn thing. And they put a damn fence around the whole thing FS -

Crazy, I've been living in Arizona for 8 years now and I've never been to the Grand Canyon. I hear it's nice. :cheeky:

The thing about the Grand Canyon that surprised me the most was the sheer bodily aversion to approaching it there was. You get over it but it's palpable at first. Go. Tomorrow is a promise from a stranger. Heh. I tried to do the bit where I pretended to slip off and fall but there is a ledge behind me nobody can see only my wife said my smile gave it away. So I guess as long as I die smiling she will not believe me.
Here we are at The Music Box stairs across from Laurel and Hardy park on Vendome avenue.

Certainly "COMA" boy vandal is without a clue. I mean, who tags you with the definition of brain dead and you are proud enough to scratch it on the sign of one of the most hilarious slapstick comedy shorts ever?

This is Point Dume. It overlooks Malibu beach. About six miles farther into the distance is Neptunes Net which is a seafood fast food place of sorts. I hadn't planned to be atop it but Pirates Cove where I wanted to be was blocked by high tide and it was the only place to view where the end scene of Planet of the Apes was shot. I wanted to pound my fists into the sand and scream "Damn you all to hell!" but not risk my life and those I care about clambering over wave splashed rocks to do so. So we climbed Point Dume on a more gradual trail just to look over into Pirates Cove. Toward Malibu first.
