Is that the one with the really steep way to the tower in the middle? If so, there is a path, but its difficult to notice. I think it was to the west, but im not sure, so dont go there and expect to find it.

God, if it's the same one I am thinking of, that one was VERY confusing.

yeah, that's the one... we (hubster and I) did eventually find it by jumping around a lot... it was confusing... so are all the ones with the weird cave systems...
Thanks for the help. :D

I think these gates appear at preditermined locations. I remember going into Leyawiin, and coming out seconds later to notice something odd. The gate appeared on a little island just outside the town. I reloaded a qucksave done just before I entered Leyawiin, and it was not there, and it refused to reappear even after hours of playing.
It did pop up there eventually, though.

I've noticed that they particularly tend to pop up on top of the various wayshrines of The Nine. That Mehrunes Dagon is a vindictive bastard.:D

Yeah, I had one on that little island too.

I've closed something like 19 gates so far and I'm still going strong. I'm wondering if anyone knows how the 'randomized gates' was implemented. I'm fairly sure the location of the gates is the same in every game. But what about the inside? Are they randomly generated for every new game you play? Or were they generated at Bethesda and then shipped so that everyone has the same gates?

The Oblivion dungeons are premade. It probobly just loads up a random one when you enter. I can't say for sure though.

There are 7 oblivion areas that are used for the random gates. Presumably when a random gate spawns it links to one of the 7 areas at random.
