I have noticed when I play FM's that some random guards have really nasty looking head wounds. mostly a verticle bloody gash on one side of the head. it's creepy and odd looking but doesn't mess with the game at all. I've seen this in every FM I've played and that's just about all of them. I've seen it both before and after removing and re-installing the game several times. I've seen it with Garrett loader in use and not, with JohnP's misc. texture mod in place and not and with Minimalist project loaded and not. I can seem to uncover no single cause for this anomoly. any1 have any ideas? am I dumb and are those wounds there on purpose? I wouldn't think it intentional because they make the guards that have them look like they should be dead. but they aren't dead and not undead.
this really doesn't bother me much but it would be nice to straighten it out.
thanx

Can you possibly post a screen so we know exactly what you are referring to? As far as I know there should never be wounds on bodies, even after they are struck.

I've not noticed anything like this. Have you seen FMs used on different machines or with a different install disc? (I know not everyone has more than one, but worth asking)
Are all the affected guards twins (i.e. wear the same face texture)? You could have a corrupt texture that hasn't been replaced by the above mods. Or perhaps your graphics card and / or drivers don't like something on one of the meshes. None of which would explain why you don't see it in the OMs.
Post a screenshot or two. It's not just that I'm curious to see the effect, but if we see who is affected we'll know what texture files to check, and there are some pretty experienced eyes around this forum who can distinguish different types of rendering artifact at 3000 unreal units :-)

Perhaps the "fresh zombie" texture got mixed up with the guard one?

I'll try to post a screen-shot soon I'm pretty busy with family-hoiday stuff right now but I promise I'll try. that's a good question about the guards being twins, it might be. and yes i was thinking maybe a fresh zombie texture got mixed in. no i haven't seen any T3 on any other computer or disk just my stuff. thanks for all the attention I'll try to get back later with some more answers.
EDIT:
ok I have some screenshots but don't know how to post them. do I need to get a Mod to give me permission to post them? my permission list at bottom of page says I can't post attachments can some1 help? thanx.
EDIT2: ok I know how to post pictures now but I don't have a place to host them now. I'll set that up tomorrow. then you'll all get to see the gaurds with lovely head wounds I found in the prison of Castle Black (in "Escape from Castle Black" by Bho)
EDIT3:
here they are in all their ghastly glory. it's interesting that both of these guards show the wounds but i don't think any other guard in Bho's mission had 'em. not that I remember anyway. considerable lightening had to be done in photoshop to make them visible. I used Snagit to capture images. so what do you all think? why do I get this? thanx for the image shack and posting info Renzatic and Glaswolf.

It looks like the Zombie_H_D.dds & Zombie01_H_D.dds textures. Somehow it's getting mixed up with the CastleGuard_H_D.
