RAM questions... - by lost_soul

Anyone ever hear of Enet brand memory? Is it any good? They're selling 4 gigs of DDR3 1333 MHz memory for $20. Also, what do you think about memory speed? From the benchmarks I've looked at, A boost from 1333 to 1600 MHz RAM gives you a whopping 2 or 3 extra FPS in games. It seems to me you are better off using that $30 or so to get the next-tier video card. Am I right?

Also, when the hell can we buy an AMD compatible bord with PCIe-3 support? I know that the standard was established a wile ago and I think PCIe3 would be the best solution for a long-term system at this point. It will give you double the bandwidth of PCIe2x16.

Stick to known brand name to avoid faulty memory errors. Kingston brand for only $3 more at SuperBiz. Higher speeds, tighter memory timings = more $$$. ;)

Before putting together a new PC I went around HardForum to get some opinions on whether waiting for PCIe 3 (among other things) is worth it, if you feel like having a skim the thread's (

Long story short, some suggested it is worth holding out until it ships, others suggested PCIe 2 wouldn't be saturated for another couple of years. My bet is that you wouldn't see PCIe 3 leveraged fully until the next gen of consoles from Sony and Microsoft launches, what with AAA PC exclusives thinning out, so worth considering when making your bets.
Anyway, PCIe 3 is supposed to come in with (
