Truly irony is the medium of Stront's virtuosity.
You're wrong on several levels.
Firstly, I'm not "acting the hardguy". I'm 6 feet tall, weigh 260lb, and my chest and thigh circumferences are 45 and 28 inches respectively (I just measured them). I don't need to "act the hardguy" because I'm naturally built like a brick shithouse, and I don't need to shirk away from physical confrontation.
Secondly, I'm not hiding from anyone. My real name is pretty widely known on these forums, and my home address and place of work are a matter of public record. If someone wants to track me down and have a heated debate, then they won't have too many obstacles in the way.
Thirdly, for better or worse, I am always me. I'm not one of these people who'll say one thing on the Internet and another to your face. I'll call a spade a spade and if I think you're being a jerk, I'll tell you, whether you're standing in front of me or sitting behind a computer terminal 3000 miles away on the other side of the Atlantic. Truth told, I'd rather do it in person, as that way there's less misunderstandings; what seems jocular in person can often seem overtly vitriolic and aggressive on a computer monitor (as TTLG admin will no doubt confirm).

You can't call them spades anymore.
Also what's with you and the passive-aggressive lately? Don't put your problems on me, chunky.

The whole thing had the same sort of weird mean-spiritedness as Andy Kaufmann wrestling women did.
With the added factor that Uwe actually has the chops to seriously hurt somebody. Say what you will about Kaufmann's stunt he was too wormy to really damage anybody.
If his "opponents" are to be trusted, and I don't really see any reason not to, they were repeatedly told, prior to and after having signed on to do it, that this would just be a PR gig, they would be given training and equipment, and Boll wouldn't seriously throw his weight around. None of the above happened and some of the critics were pretty roughed up. Lowtax said one guy was receiving serious attention from an EMT, vomited for about a half-hour, and at one point had to be put on oxygen. I don't care what kind of grudge you carry against sassy Internet nerds or how hilarious you think it is to recreate a throwaway joke from a Kevin Smith movie, in the real world that kind of behavior places Boll squarely in the wrong here. The guy was a bully and his whole outfit was incredibly irresponsible for doing this.

What the fuck, dude.

Once you realize you've been had, you'd think some of these "internet nerds" would start fighting dirty. I mean if a guy tells me it's a fight "for fun" and the hard blows start coming what's wrong with a kick in the nuts or biting part of an ear off?

It's a personality flaw... that's what Vigil says anyway :(
I think it's more that actively aggressive language comes over so...
aggressive on the Internet; and because aggressive language is what I normally use IRL, I've had to adapt to survive.
And I'm being serious here; I'll call my parents cunts to their faces, and they know that's just my way, and shrug it off. But on an Internet forum... well it looks
baaaad, and I know you guys aren't impressed with that sort of thing, so I've toned me down a lot, and unfortunately that sometimes manifests itself as passive aggression. Does that make sense?

You really did stop to measure your chest and thighs, didn't you?

Agreed. Given I'm, at this moment in time, choosing to believe the critics. But I really wonder what Boll would have done if one of them had fought back and battered him? I'll wager he'd then be the one moaning about it only being a PR stunt.

Because this isn't a school playground and grown adults shouldn't be pulling childish stunts like that?
This is
DOCTOR UVAYYY BOLLL, director of House of the Dead and other such crimes against humanity, how in the fuck can you take anything the guy says at face value? And honestly, how much of a PR "joke" does boxing your harshest critics sound -
especially given that the director has a history of boxing?
I have no real issue with Lowtax, beyond his incredibly assholish nature in general, but I think he got properly trolled here and that he's guilty of much worse trolls on his own website. And he would laugh just as hard at anyone getting upset over his (sometimes quite disgusting) trolls against real life issues (such as saying one thing, doing another), so I have no sympathy for his whining.
And StD, that new username might be handy right about now.

Because directing shitty movies doesn't necessarily imply you're a low-life slimeball in all aspects of life

I assume you're not an SA member then but there's a general discussion thread about this and Lowtax is pretty good natured about it. He's pissed that he got lied to but he says he got the punches he deserved and got out before he looked like ground beef which is more than you can say about the other poor bastards.
Fine you don't like him, but he's really not whining much about this. As for worse trolls? Gimme a break. No one's had to be administered by an EMT, including full-on oxygen mask, due to a Something Awful article. I think you're letting your distaste cloud the fact that Boll could have (and may have) seriously hurt somebody here just to satisfy his infantile ego.
