Well unsurprisingly you're blowing this shit way out of proportion OH CHRIST THINK OF THE FORUMS
I simply made a dig about the self-centered musical perspective that youth brings, which you had to go and ridiculously misinterpret. He can hate Radiohead, who gives a shit? His loss.
Easy on the panic trigger there son. Nobody is telling anyone what they should like.
Also: speaking of Radiohead, goddamn that new album is

I was browsing the archive the other day, and it's plain as day that the forums have lost most of their old lighthearted eccentricity. Perhaps the reason for this is that TTLG culture has evolved a kind of imperative to mock any posts that don't conform to its unusually high literary standards. I appreciate this place for the opportunities it provides to improve my writing skills, but I'd never expect that sort of thing from the majority.
You're right, this is the wrong thread for this sort of discussion. But my criticism stands: this place isn't nearly as tolerant (or as fun) as it used to be.

there's such a fine line between "tolerance" and "enabling"

I agree wholeheartedly, but this particular instance hardly warrants DRAWING A LINE IN THE SAND

Plus, this place has always been full of strong opinions, at least that hasn't changed.

You're right, it doesn't.
I had just finished a short essay on how language tends to evolve in specific online communities, and it struck me that TTLG was experiencing the sort of evolution that I was reading about.
I was actually going to start a new thread on it, but I didn't, and some of what I had planned on saying spilled out where it wasn't exactly applicable.
and hey scots, look what I found (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=300051#post300051) in the archive! ;)

hahaha, yeah, I was a cock but it's true: god hates fags
but oh man, the epic religion/homosexuality/pot smoking/politics flame wars back in the days are solid gold now to look back on - I can actually fully fledged laugh mockingly at how utterly narrow minded I was back then, yay for growing up in a small town full of irish catholics with a propensity to eat and drink themselves to death, intellect and learning weren't exactly held in the highest regard
I still hold that this forum changed a lot after 9/11 and in a lot of ways the changing face of the forums doesn't bear bringing up anyway; a lot of the changes have come as a function of the existing membership and the newer membership ebbing and flowing, some posters haven't changed one iota from the start and some have pretty much changed everything they did, as well as some who have simply grown into it, and I would say that pretty much all of it is irreversible.

Don't worry man, you don't have to go much farther back than twenty minutes ago to find one of my embarrassing posts.
Scots Taffer on 16/10/2007 at 05:34
Is that every one in Thief Gen?
Aja on 16/10/2007 at 05:41
My Thief Gen posts are rock-solid
