Nought pounds and nought pence... seems a little pricey.

this just in: people appreciate value of music in a subjective way
fwiw, I was thinking of £10 for the download. That just seemed about right to me. YMMV

Gotta love Radiohead. You don't see bands being independent like them too much in the "mainstream". I ordered the Boxset, which looks quite immense. I adore vinyls and the B-side cd looks great as well. Lovely art and booklet with a hardpack cover.
I just really really hope it isn't going to be shit now. :laff:

From what I've listened to it sounds like the LP and the B-Side album should be the other way around. Why didn't "Down is the New Up" and "Up on the Ladder" make the cut? Hopefully it'll all make sense together in final studio form. Regardless, it's pretty damned annoying that downloaders (i.e. everyone with sense) aren't even able to acquire the second half of the package. Sup Radiohead, thought you were all about upholding the integrity of albums?

Yes, it's atrocious that the people who are getting an album free of charge don't get the B-sides. ;)

What's with everyone saying this album is "free" wherever I go, are you all that base

I don't know what you're saying there, but the album is free to download, if you decide so. Radiohead made the download so, that the downloaders can decide how much they want to pay for it, be it 0 or 100. Naturally, the boxset does cost and the normal cd-release (if they ever get it done) too, but it still bloody generous.
The extra songs Radiohead have included in the Box-thingie are B-sides. Working as a treat for fans, who like to collect things and enjoy rare releases.

Frankly, the price is ludicrous. $82 USD buys me two CDs, one of which is a B-side disc, with two accompanying vinyl records as ballast? The new Spoon album gave me all of the above, minus the vinyl, for twelve bucks.
The high price of the collectors' edition is certainly offset by the FREE VERSION, no?
The new Spoon disc didn't come with artwork in hardback book. I'm no vinyl fiend, but if Radiohead's past albums are any indication, In Rainbows is something I'm going to be listening to
a lot, so the chance to get some large, high quality artwork to stare at while doing so is definitely appealing.
As for the B-sides, well no one had a problem paying full price for Amnesiac, which, if it is any indication, means that In Rainbow's bonus disc will be special.
I rarely buy collectors' items, but this one is so cool I'm making an exception.

Too bad the pre-order function seems to be broken at the moment...

Surely there should be some middle ground for the fan who wants the CD, maybe even the bonus disc, but doesn't want to pay four times the going rate via traditional channels. I applaud ridiculous collector's editions, but only if it isn't the sole physical version.
As for the download that's free--or, at least, of consumer-dictated value--my interest is entirely dependent on the format. Anything other than a DRM-free MP3 of 192 or higher is kind of worthless.
