Being a big fan of Old Time Radio programs, I've been on a downloading spree lately of available mp3 from various collections.
The good thing is that most of these are decent for sound quality and legibility. But, some aren't and could benefit from a "remix/remaster".
Can anyone recommend a program that's fairly easy to use (for a rube like me), preferably free (but not necessarily), and could be used to clean up mp3 files by standardizing the volume and allowing some tweaking to try to reduce noise and garbled sound?
[edit] ...for Windows.

Goldwave is your friend. Once you get the mp3 plugin of course.

Not what you're asking for, but try (
http://www.radiospirits.com/) Radio Spirits if you decide you want to buy some old shows. (Or listen to some streaming programs.)

I can't get Audacity to download from some reason. Dammit!
But, Goldwave is working fine. The newest release has the mp3 plug built in. Thanks, dt!

Didn't she come out recently that the only thing she looks for in a man is an enormous hog?

Pa-pa-pa-parazzi.
Does Lady Gaga have some kind of stutter we are unaware of that she has somehow used to her advantage?
P-p-p-p-pick up a penguin.
