That actually made sense.
Fucking absinthe.

Awesome.
In response to Chade's question: That's why I have a dog not a gun. :)
Chade on 25/2/2009 at 00:07
Oh yeah, you said that, didn't you ... :o

I don't own any guns, and I can't imagine a situation where I'd need one for self-defense (of property or country). Hell, when I was living in the city I didn't even lock my apartment doors because I figured it was better if someone just stole shit and left than stole shit and smashed my windows/door. I wish I had figured that out with my car because I probably wouldn't have needed to replace a window every year.
Anyway, I'd really like to buy some nice guns for collecting/sport, though. There is something special about firing a Magnum 357 or an Ak-47 at a firing range and trying to harness the power they generate. Having a scoped .22 or a cheap shotgun for hunting would be pretty sweet too. There's something extremely appealing to my stealth-gamer instincts about laying motionless in the woods for hours, stalking your prey, and then trying to get off an accurate shot without scaring the turkey/deer/pheasant/whatever away.

Kudos to Chade, Vivian and Thirith for that little exchange. It made the 11 pages that built up to it seem worthwhile. :D

Nothing but love for your Jason, but you're a pussy. ;)
I'm looking you up on the new ttlg feature as we speak. I'll be there for my free shit in just a bit. You must have a rich uncle or a great paying job. Either way, thanks!

Cool, now it's who's got the bigger dog...
Don't mess with me, I have weapons too: Rhetoric, adjectives and eye brows. :grr:

Still though, how often do people break into houses to rape or murder the occupants? Fett even admits his fear of burglars is exacerbated by unrealistic portrayals in movies.
It's (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_fear) the culture of fear... Ignore the article itself if you don't trust Wikipedia (always a sensible thing) and follow external references near the end.
PS. I've got a friend who is a radical gay and I can see why some may be concerned - if he could he would force us all into BDSM! :)

...where the immediate reaction to every perceived threat is to shoot first and ask questions later.
Somehow, I don't think you are speaking from anythng but a theoretical point of view. I don't think you've ever had to deal with the reality of a direct and unprovoked attack or home invasion. And I also haven't heard any self defense advocate say he or she would "shoot first and ask questions later." That is your own spin and proof that you have no personal experience upon which to base your opinion.
