maybe it was someone's incentive for donating

It's basically arriving at the same point as last time: most people acknowledge the US's current system is problematic (at best), it's just that they won't accept anything else and even slight changes would be ridiculously hard to bring in

Oh and thanks to the mod who removed my tag:
LARGE GUN = SMALL PENISUsually we don't have much of a problem with talking about cocks here, do we? So why so sensible all of a sudden?
Yeah. Completely killed the effect I was going for when it was right next to my "happiness = warm gun" tag. :erg:

Well I don't know a lot about guns so stop me if I'm getting this all wrong:
I'm thinking to fend off bears, tigers and velociraptors, some sort of shotgun or manual action rifle is sufficient? So we can still cut out both the pistol and the AK47 side of things? Which is what i'd be more worried about anyway.
You would cut out pistols, with their effective ranges of 20 meters, and not shotguns and rifles?
[Edit]Goddamn another page

I have to confess to giggling a little over this conversation.
A whole slew of people who are perfectly willing , even eager, to barrel down the freeway at 80 miles an hour in the company of thousands of other motorists in perfect faith that all those angry or drunk or PMSsing or just plain garden variety crazy people are all going to politely follow the same rules of the road and pay unfailing attention to what they are doing ... are actually concerned over their whether their neighbors should be allowed to keep a gun.
I mean ... does that really make sense, considering the relative statistics on death and dismemberment?
Gentlemen, as a woman living out in the sticks - and pretty darned close to the Mexican border, I would not live without a gun in the house. The very idea is ludicrous and if some bozos got together and outlawed guns, I would be forced to keep mine illegally. It would be suicide for the border bandits to become aware that absolutely no one on this side of the border is armed. We'd be sheep to the slaughter.
And I'm not sure I would feel any differently if I lived in the city. Frankly, the thought of living cheek by jowl with thousands of people whose motivations, attitudes, states-of-mind and drug use history are unknown to me seems like a pretty dangerous proposition too.
Would NOT being able to own a rock solid self-defense tool really make a rational person feel safer about living among all those unknowns?
One final thought: Guns are illegal in Mexico and legal in the U.S. Compare Mexico's murder rates with ours and tell me with a straight face that we would be a safer society without private gun ownership.

You can't compare the US and Mexico in that respect. You'd need to compare two countries with a fairly equal socioeconomic and geographic standing.

Ignoring for a moment the absurd 'rock solid self defense tool' bit (written in thickly lettered black italics with a red stripe and a swooshy noise I suppose), and substituting "gun", er yes actually. But we did this already.
However this is all a non starter as you've established you can barely abide human company at all.
