'Racist' Australian KFC ad

Their interpretaton of the ad is just so wrong it makes me giggle. In a, I suppose, well meaning attempt to reduce some ill in the world all they did was reinforce the stereotype of American cultural obtuseness in fine style.
(In case you don't know; the guy's at a cricket match surrounded by West Indian fans, who are doing what West Indian fans usually do. There's been other ads and sketches from all over the place about people being seated among the wrong group of fans at sports. There's no cultural baggage about their behaviour at the cricket or fried chicken or any of that stuff.)

It's no big deal, really. I'm sure none of you folks have even heard about this (except maybe from Aus chums). But this made some of the news services here, mostly because it has two things beloved by Aussies: Americans a) paying attention to us and b) looking stupid.

edit: for added Ha! I just saw (http://www.news.com.au/world/kfc-australia-pulls-racist-ad-after-us-anger/story-e6frfkyi-1225816969895) KFC apparently pulled the ad due to the controversy (seem it might have made the news over there after all). Aye Yie Yie.

The guy in that youtube link was stuttering and stumbling over his words a lot.

I think it's because he was hungry for some of that fried chicken.

Oh hell. The whole commercial could be full of blackface white folk eating watermelon and talking about rolling a corner mart for crack money, and I wouldn't even notice. Right now I'm just too shocked by the fact people actually like cricket outside of England for anything else to phase me.
