Err, that's no strawman argument there. I really do like shooting sports, and if I stop sucking so much I'll enter competitions.
That's one hell of a loaded question.

Here's a question for those overseas: about what percentage of your primetime television consists of shows where people use guns? How many movies have come out in your country featuring some variant of gunfight?

Stylized gunfights are the best. Gun-fu is so fake, but looks so badass.

Yeah that kind of socialism as if government funded health care will deal with the problem of health care costs.
I know how efficient governments are about doing anything.
I wasn't aware the average working person was on the street. At least not any average working person I know.
You must be listening to too many democratic speeches.
Hmm, Canada has health care for all its citizens as do all of the earopean nations if i'm not mistaken. in fact we(U.S.) are the only developed nation that doesn't have health care for all its citizens as a right. Ironically the U.S. also has the highest cost for health care of any nation by far.
I wasn't saying the average working person was on the street you moron. I was saying that if they did away with social security that the average working person when they retired might not be able to make it. Hense the golden years comment in case ur stupid.

This can safely be blamed on the private insurers.

I'd say that in most European countries at least, American series and movies make up 90% of what is watched. People here enjoy a good action movie as much as in the States. The big difference is that by and large we don't see bearing arms as a godgiven right. It's not really part of our culture to the same extent - not even in Switzerland where most male adults have an automatic weapon at home, which they're given for their military service.

nice strawman ^^
Not really a strawman. A strawman would be more like if he said "oh so you think we should just leave ourselves defenseless and at the mercy of the criminals why don't you just give them your things right now it'd be faster don't come crying to me when your family is raped, murdered, and stolen because you couldn't protect them" or something.
"I enjoy guns and want this hobby to be legal" is a perfectly reasonable thing to say.

Absolutely. That and the pharmaceutical companies.

I like going to the range and running a couple hundred rounds through a nine-millimeter. That's pretty much all I ever do with guns. It's a sport. Maybe I'll get into competitive shooting when I stop sucking so much.
Now you're making me want a gun. :p
I'm sure that scares a lot of people I know, since I'm sure they have me pegged as a borderline sociopath.

The stress-relieving power of going John Woo on frozen milk jugs with a pair of .45s can not be overstated.

This here is probably one of the big reasons that places like Switzerland, Israel and the like have armed citizenry but don't have much gun crime--everyone goes into the military. I think the Swiss only send men, but Israel and Italy send everyone. It's pretty much part of school.
