I'm voting for whoever is not Huckabee and doesn't destroy Second Amendment rights any further than they already have been (probably McCain or Obama depending on other issues). Obama isn't quite as hot for another Assault Weapons Ban as Hillary is, and despite his comments years ago about how all semiautomatics should be banned, he's got a more realistic view on the whole thing now.
Unfortunately Huckabee has the most realistic view on the Second Amendment. He's the only one who seems to realize that it's a fail-safe put in place to keep the US from becoming another Great Britain of the 18th century.
The other candidates seem to think it's the right to own HUNTIN' RAHFLES!
The fact that our populace has the right to legally own weapons is one of the few remaining checks against the US becoming something right out of a dystopic-future novel. The government should fear its citizens, not the other way around. Those who would trade liberty for a little temporary security deserve neither.

You are right that Obama is not quite as anti-gun as Clinton, but he is most certainly anti-gun.
As recently as '04 Obama has stated that he both approved of a
total semi-auto ban (regarding both handguns and rifles) and a
national ban on concealed-carry permits. He voted anti-firearm in every senate vote except one (regarding confiscation during national emergencies, good on him for that at least.) This was in 10 seperate votes from '04-'07.
Maybe you allready knew all of this, but if not it's food for thought. If Obama has made comments regarding a change in stance then I have yet to hear them, not that I would believe him anyway given his record.

Don't be flippant.
It's a lot harder for a totalitarian police state to cow a populace that's armed. Not to mention it's also a lot more difficult to invade a country that has an armed populace. Just ask any Israeli about that.
I wonder why our politicians are so afraid of law-abiding citizens owning weapons? The answer is it takes power out of their hands and places it in ours. You can count on politicians to be in complete agreement in this, no matter what their other "views" really are. They may fight day in and day out over the most trivial of issues but when it comes to securing their own power and influence they're remarkably similar.
Some basic research will tell anyone that nearly all weapons used in crimes are stolen or purchased through black market channels. Bans will do nothing stop crimes committed with weapons. What they
will do is remove an important fail-safe to prevent our government from becoming what it once fought against over two hundred years ago.

Obama must have pretty deep pockets since on the site it says Obama would pay for this and Obama would pay for that.Of course there just entitlement programs and bureaucratic oversight panels. That along with tax credits means a huge government power grab and less money to pay for it.
Evidently he wants your kids from birth on up and a word to the candidate of hope, socialism has been tried and it doesn't work.

It's pretty sad that the only candidate who truly advocates diminution of government is also batshit insane (lol Ron Paul).
