Quick enchanting item question... - by Priest77

Ok so I'm making my first enchanted item. What is the difference between "touch" and "target" if I'm enchanting a sword? There's a price difference, but why?

Can't help you there. But you should make sure to watch how much charge the item has and how much it costs everytime you use it.
Also the better quality of the item, the better. Go for exquisite stuff (exquisite rings and amulets hold the most enchantment value.) And go trap yourself an Ascended Sleeper or Golden Saint in a Grand Soul Gem. That lets you create items with constant effect ;)

There are no exquisite swords Ryushi :D
If you want the sword to damage your opponent magickly every time you hit him,
choose "touch". Then change the button down to the left on the original enchantmentswindow from "cast when used" to "cast when strikes".

I knew that post was missing something. I meant with clothes and rings and things, hehe. The best swords for enchanting are Daedric. Runner up would probably be Ebony.

Oh, and if you're wondering how to get a quick Daedric weapon (possible spoiler, but it's a side-quest), just do the Vassir-Didanat Mine quest and tell Dram Bero the location. The mine is located directly south of Balmora, across the river. Just levitate over the cliffs and you'll see a small ashland-like region. Past that region, keep your map on-screen and you should notice a door come up after a while. This door leads into the mine. And since there's nobody in it, you can assume that it's abandoned. And on House Hlaalu land. So, just run down to the Hlaalu Council Manor and ask around about the mine. Eventually, somebody will tell you to give the location to one of three Hlaalu councilmen that could be interested. One of them gives you nothing, another gives you 2000 gold, but Dram Bero will give you the best offer -- your choice between several Daedric weapons, including the Claymore, Longsword, and Battle Axe. I can't give you exact details on how to get to him, but just look around the abandoned residences in Vivec.

The man is in the Haunted Manor in the Hlaalu Plaza in Vivec I think. The ebony mine is also easy to find. All you have to do is follow the river up near Odai Plateau. You'll find a rope bride spanning the river; cross that and the mine is to your left. Lots of ebony. If your character is strong take as much as you can. I think there's atleast two atronachs inside...
It's also pretty dark, so take that lantern by the door.
If you're in it for the money, the Daedric Longbow is the most expensive :cheeky:
