And yes, Brethren; you & Chade would've been the first two I would've nominated, among others here. Now
those reviews would've been worth reading! ;)
Send me. Then you'll get the real deal.

Does all this make EM the big bad? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I don't think the underlying desire for the game to be successful (as measured by number of sales) is inherently wrong.
It would have been better to craft a niche game in a more timely matter with less resources, to test the waters. It could very well have succeeded, which would have meant sequels, and bigger better games. But no, they figured they would just try and cash in on the brand straight away and have been unknowingly enduring the same disastrous blunders that the Deadly game endured. What they are doing to the classic franchise is sloppy, and embarrassing.

True but it is one hell of a risk, especially given how high the standards of this community can be! EM currently have only one successful IP to rely on for (safe) future sales. If nuthief is successful they will get a second. After that we might see more niche projects, where the costs can be absorbed more easily if they fail.

Which further strengthens the idea that perhaps attempting to use Thief as that vehicle for their own profit might not have been in the best interest of their souls.

The point I've been trying to make all along. I'm
not trying to make EM out as 'the bad guys', just sayin' that EM members/employees who prattle on about all the wonderful aspects of T4 don't have the credibility in my eyes that a fellow, hard-core Thief fan from TTLG forums would have. And there are plenty of hard-core Thief fans here at TTLG who are indeed looking forward to the final release of T4, mind you.
Basically, what Brethren said.

Well, B1skit doesn't appear to be answering many questions on the EM forums either - he's only posted 15 times since E3, which was over a month ago. :tsktsk:
Honest inquiry here - if he's not answering questions on the two biggest Thief message boards on the net, then what exactly does a "Community Manager" do all day?
Sorry to break it to ya, but my job is a LOT more than posting on forums - as lovely as that would be ;) I rely heavily on our awesome volunteer mod team precisely for this reason.
For the record guys, the E3 community event was also about Deus Ex: The Fall and Deus Ex: Human Revolution - Director's Cut, we linked directly to this right there in the (
http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?t=138032) "Ask us anything" threads. The community attendees got to check out everything we've been working on as of late, and were selected because of their combined knowledge of ALL of the franchises we were showing.
CONSPIRACY! ...but not really.
It should not come as a shock that we brought regular contributors of the official Eidos-Montreal forums to an official Eidos-Montreal community event. This is as much of a conspiracy as water being wet. The important thing to remember is that our communities are not mutually exclusive, registration is always free and open, if you'd like to be involved in something like this in future I welcome and encourage each and every one of you to join in and participate on the official boards.
Not for you? That's ok too! I totally respect your decision - but always remember that it's your choice to make.

There, see? All roses.

With your return to our illustrious home, may we expect that you will answer some more of the questions that have been raised? Have you been given new information on some of those questions you weren't sure about?
legoman on 15/7/2013 at 16:05
What bribe would EM desire to facilitate the invitation of democratically elected member of TTLG to playtest the demo shown at E3?
If the community really wants a credible review, are you willing to put up the costs of travel, accommodation and burgers?

Interesting, that amidst plenty of worthwhile questions to answer, you would come out of silence to answer this one.
:)
