We've had many black and white statements from EM that the burning bridge section is not part of the same mission, that's not really up for debate. We don't how other escape sections work, though. Actually, do we even know that the burning bridge sequence is considered an escape sequence? The journalist's question may still be sensible when you consider the game as a whole... they just got the detail about the bridge being the escape sequence to the manor wrong.

I understood that the burning bridge was later in the same mission, the distinction was that the bridge was burning, not the mansion - as some E3 write ups had it.

I always got the impression it was the same mission too. I've PM'd Master Taffer at EM forums to clarify.
