#20 Why does Garrett hold his bow sideways?

#21 can we hold the blackjack up before swinging down or cancelling? And not just have a script that swings up and down quickly.

#19 - Did anyone in the dev team play the original games?
I can jump in and answer this one on Adam's behalf: yes, yes they did. Some of them are the most insanely hardcore fans you can imagine - they even put Master Taffer to shame.
I know this sounds like a canned, PR-esque response, but it's really true. The team are really dedicated, old school Thief fans. They know their stuff.

Are the fans involved in the nuts and bolts of making the game arriving at these decisions that the fanbase hate on their own or are they being ordered to make the game that way by higher ups in the company?

Yeah it does, it's extremely hard to believe considering how the new game is unfolding.

Looking over your posting history at the Eidos forums, you don't appear to have been active on the Thief forum until after your trip to E3. Is it fair to say your perspective is not that of a hardcore Thief fan? Looks like you're all Deus Ex over there.

I think they're pretty much all fans of the series, even up to the higher levels. That of course doesn't mean they'll come to the the same decisions as other fans. If you were making a new Thief game, I'm sure you'd make decisions that other longstanding fans would dislike too.

Well, all I can do is answer the question honestly, which I've done. If you choose not to believe it as it doesn't fit with your preconceived view, then that's your choice.

That's pretty fair. I was certainly more on the DX side of the fanbase for the E3, while Master Taffer was more Thief focused, and Jerion and Spyhopping were more evenly split between the two. That said, I have played all of the previous Thief games*, so I'm hardly a newcomer to the franchise.
*Not counting the mobile version of Deadly Shadows. I'm not a sadist.

Probably, but it wouldn't be hard for me to pick a dozen people from this board that I wish had veto power over the decisions EM is making.

Thanks the info. I really do appreciate hearing everyone's impressions of the game.

The Dark Mod did not have access to the assets that EM does and that game is more true to the series than anything I've seen from EM thus far.
T2X had deviations and still maintained true to the series.
TDS was different from its predecessors and still maintained true to the series.
It isn't impossible to make a new game that is different
and stay true to what makes Thief great.

I remember the general disappointment with TDS. It wasnt awful, but certainly lacking in many respects. Boy, do those disappointments pale in comparison now.
