The enemies seems to change their distances after each reload, sometimes when you reload they might be close enough to notice you.. AND they do seem to be a bit more alert after reloading. I guess they've done that on purpose to make it more challenging.
That is, in my opinion, a very lame way of making a game challenging. Enemies magically become aware of you or change their location upon level load? Call me crazy but that sounds like cheating to me.

I'm sure it's not intentional, it's just a side effect of the way they implemented save/load.
I have a feeling that the problem may concern a sound that Marked One makes, even if he hasn't anything equipped, when game is loaded (inventory sound) - it may aware nearby enemies. Look at the sound indicator just after loading - it jumps a bit. The sound is about as loud as sound made when you touch bushes - and such loudness certainly may aware nearby enemies.

Is this the mark of a really good game? How often do we see gamers start off disliking a game but slowly becoming dedicated fans? Bioshock seems to be the exact opposite - so many people wanted it to be great but have now come to the realization that its a beautiful piece of work with no soul.
Stalker was hyped, then thought to be vaporware and written off and then finally released with loads of missing features and bugs.. gem in the rough for sure.
Couldn't agree more. Basically, one of the predominant thoughts I have while playing BioShock is "well, at least I can play STALKER again".

Cool. I was really into them like 15 years ago. Saw them live a couple of times in sweden too, very intense stuff :)
STALKER reminds me of those EBM bands somehow.. people dressed in black wearing gasmasks, the gloomy atmosphere etc. Some EBM band should've made the soundtrack for this game hehe (Kraftwerk's Radioactivity album playing in the background would more than suffice i guess :cheeky: )

But when loading a savegame I don't hear any sound made by Marked One when the game starts. :erm:
By the way, I tried save/load experiments in military warehouses and got an interesting result. The Duty members sitting by the fire near the transition point to Rostok, they sit when I save, they stand when I load. And sometimes when I load they aren't even there, but I see them walk towards the farmhouse from a distance. :weird:
I hope the devs will improve the savegame coding for 1.1.

If you hold crouch button when reloading a saved game, enemies nearby shouldn't notice you :thumb:.

Why didn't I think of trying that? But thanks for the tip. :)
By the way, I think I figured out why enemies spawn in odd places when loading a savegame; they fall through geometry! I saw this when I was in Agroprom underground, in the tall stairway room. There were a few guys standing high above, but when I saved the game after killing all but one, that one guy was suddenly on the bottom floor, just around the corner from where I was.

Objects in general have a habit of falling through floors. The Vintorez you can find in the Freedom base barracks, for example, should not be on the floor, it should be on the roof...

Enemies sometimes fly through walls and floors when they die, i wish they could fix that..
Btw, how close am i to completion, i'm doing "reach the antennae" mission...?
