I was playing on Veteran when using the strategy I mentioned above, and the suit was very damaged, had around 10% protection left. The reason I used it is that I completely forgot to pick a new suit. This runthrough I took the Duty suit with me, in perfect shape.
And cover is surprisingly useful in the game. If you go behind a sandbag wall and crouch, you'll be able to stay still and snipe enemies. Even if they start firing at you, the chances you'll get hit are little to none assuming the sandbag wall covers enough of your body.

Finished it, what a great ride :cheeky: I liked the ending i got:
immortality.. But that russian voice speaking got on my nerves after a while i must say.
It deserves another round in a few months.. I think the length was perfect, i really liked Pripyat, very cool and big map with lots of things to explore.
I'll post my stats here so i can find them if i play another round (+ it might be of intrerest to someone else)
Rank: 1762
Killed Stalkers: 59768 (cant be right though???)
Killed Mutants: 4581 (hmm)
Completed Quests: 267
Total: 64886
Tank: Expert
Group: Loner
Rep: Very good
I didnt do that many side quests really.. the next round i'm gonna do many more of them.
What i liked the most: The atmosphere, especially some of the interior areas were superb, the labs and the last level for example, really creepy and just dripping with atmosphere. I loved how the AI acted. Eg. i try to snipe an enemy, i miss and wait for him to come out again, but nope, he's not that stupid.. he'll go around and sneak up on me from behind etc. It had many moments were i almost jumped out of my chair, i cant even remember the last game that did that to me. 9/10.

Congrats, absolute majority of people got 'I wanna be rich'. So you missed extra level and true ending, eh? :)

That kills count is broken. You can see true amount of killed stalkers and mutants in the PDA - Stats section - right column, there is a list of all enemies your killed and their correct quantity, as well as your true score - Ranks section, in the list of top scores.

Haha, yeah. The AI was really patchy in Stalker IMO. It had some very good aspects like the enemies' unwillingness to return to the same spot where they just got chunks blown out of them - a nice counter to the door-hanging tactic - and the AI's navigation was excellent in general.
Then there was the enemies ghoulishly poking the business end of their guns through the Zone's thinner surfaces to riddle you with holes from behind the implacable comfort of a solid wall. That was one of the bad bits.

Yeah i got shot through solid walls a couple of times, i hope they can patch that.
I'll probably get another ending the next time, now i know a bit more about tactics, armor, artifacts etc.
So there's another level if you get a true ending, very cool, then a replay will be totaly worth it :)

Yes, that's a bug. But anyway true count is on the PDA Stats page, list of kills, column with "x"es.

hint:the "true" ending is not at the Wish Granter :)
And the WG calling me thru the whole last level was pure genius. the whole destroyed room and the maze to get there was gorgeous.

I spent at least 4-5 hours of game time working my way from the wish granter to the alternate 'true' ending.

I loved the wish granter's "calls", though it made hearing the bad guys a bit harder. ;)
