in 1.003 or 1 was an exploit that when you equipped more than 100% value in artifacts of the same kind, say against electric shock, you could stand in that anomaly and your armor was repaired :)
didn't check if it's still possible.

It still works as far as I know.
I just read that there are at least 4 Souls in the game. 600%x4 = should be enough to regenerate health with good speed during firefights... probably.
Another new trick, at least for me: with 3 x Moon Light equipped one can run overloaded (>=50kg & <60kg) as long (or even longer) as if he/she was loaded <50Kg.

The maximum number of Souls I've found in a game were 8 (I found a stash in Yantar that had 4). Equipping five souls wouldn't make you indestructible. It would actually be a huge mistake. The negative effects of having 5 x -10% in bulletproof cap would make you so vulnerable to bullets that it would mean that you'd probably die after being hit only once or twice. I never wear that type of artifacts (Soul, Meat Chunk or Stone Blood) during a firefight. I have them in my inventory, and only equip them after the firefight is over.

That is pretty much common sense; after a fire fight you simply equip them to heal yourself very quickly.
But what if you have a good suit that has over 50% bulletproof cap? Like the exoskeleton?
D'Arcy on 19/9/2007 at 14:28
So what? Then you'll be wearing an Exoskeleton to get 10% Bulletproof cap protection. That's an equivalent protection to the one you get from wearing a Leather Jacket. Would you go to the Red Forest or to Pripyat wearing a Leather Jacket for protection? Even at the very start of the game, when you have a Merc Suit (20% protection), you can get yourself killed very easily by pistols and sawn-off shotguns when attacking the car park in Cordon.
The fact is that there is no valid reason to be wearing artifacts that decrease your protection against bullets when in a firefight. Artifacts should be worn accordingly to a specific situation, and the healing artifacts definitely don't suit a firefight.

I just thought that maybe 5 Souls would regenerate health with a speed enough to guarantee near invincibility even with bad anti-bullet protection.

Carrying multiple sets of artifacts is a pain and really not worth the hassle. I stick to a very simple setup of 3 fireballs/2 moonlight and wear one of the Hazmat suits from Yantar.

I had no problems going through Red Forest and turning off the scorcher, wearing the orange scientist suit, and it gives 10% protection if you don't wear any healing artifacts at all. If you find the game impossible that way, using cover more often might help.

...and of course all this is highly dependent on what difficulty level you happen to be playing on... I went up one difficulty level in my last game and I certainly don't feel nearly as bulletproof as before... ;)

Perhaps if you'd play in higher difficulty settings you'd find the game more challenging. I've finished the game five times already, on several difficulty levels, so I think I have some idea of what I'm talking about. Strangely, it never occurred to me that taking cover from enemy fire could be a good idea. I normally just run around like a headless chicken whilst being fired upon. That always seemed like a perfectly valid strategy to me ;)
Oh, and the SSP-99 Ecologist suit (the orange one) gives you 20% bulletproof cap, not 10%.
242: There's no healing speed fast enough that will help you if you're killed after being hit once or twice.
