Hello everyone, i want to say i really enjoying playing Morrowind+Tribunal.
Have any of you seen The Scorpion King or that orc using that big ass bow in Lord of the Ring? I noticed there is no extra damage can be done by bows, if the bows are rare or composite should be able to deliver extra punch as long the characters have enough strength. I dont see it in Morrowind, is there a way to override this and fix it?
One more thing (spoiler) where can i find a unique bow or bows? and what guard it or what i might be facing to get it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you. :cheeky:

Better bows do do more damage. The Daedric Bow does between 2 and 5 times the damage of the Chitin bow, for example.
Unique bows? You get one through the main quest...also investigate the Venim Tomb in the Grazelands north of the Zainab Camp, Tel Ahrun, and Ralyn Othravel in the Tower of Dawn.

Ya cant believe how big those arrows that orc was using. Imagine that big @#$ bow and all that strength, woot i bet that hurt all that extra strength on that impact!

Those weren't arrows so much as small trees  , and I wouldn't mind seeing some actually cool bow enchantments. My marksman characters all use bound longbow these days (constant effect of course :cheeky: ) as they degrade fast and are easy to fix in the field. And I hate the fact that they tease you with finding a few dadreic arrows but you know you'll never use them because you can't get more.

Hmm small trees, it more like spears shot off from a cannon. :D
Dunno about bows, i love them. But for crossbow (xbow) seem to have much greater range and powerful punch.
Bows should be measure by strength and what type is the bow (the limit of max damage). For example if you got a very good composite bow and great strength, you can deliver one hell'va damage with it plus depend on what kinda arrows you have as well.
Ranges while using bows; while let look at it, those cheap bows only do like 5-15 feets lol. and wont be able to travel in straigh line into the crosshair. :(
But anyway depend on the bows/arrows and plus strength bonus, the range can be excellent as well as damage too. I hope this is setup right in Morrowind, but i dont see it that way unless someone has. Remember im new in this so maybe i miss something i dont know.

Well I don't believe strength will have any effect on how much damage you do with a bow of any kind, the marksman skill is governed by something else. As for xbows being longer ranged or more powerful, range really isn't an issue in Morrowind as none of the marksman weapons have any hard limitations on range and a daedric longbow does more damage than a dwarven crossbow. As a general rule of thumb I use longbows outdoors and crossbows indoors as crossbows seem to fire in straighter trajectories and have a faster rate of fire which seems better in close quarters.

The thing is, a Dwarven Crossbow does a fixed amount of damage. A Daedric Longbow does greater damage, but you need to hold the strong back longer. When fighting in Solstheim, I haven't had time to hold back the string to get the max damage, so using a crossbow would be better. I'd be able to do more damage in a shorter amount of time.

True, i would rather have high rate of fire instead great range anyway. only crossbow i have seen is steel. So i guess it take time til i get there or other places until i see something new.
Okay scud, have you noticed the movie "The Scorpion King", almost at the end of it when he spotted that evil warlord, note that warlord can dodge well against arrows and flying objects, he got good relexes. But having so much strength and agility, he made a powerful shot (too extreme) and the warlord couldnt avoid becuz of great strength was add to it. Though strength does add bonus to arrows in flight (speed) and distances as well.
In real life if you have practice alot with bows you would prob would understand it. I know this is very complex but it seem natural in nature. That why im a bows lover and i made a really nice elf and she is so cute and very good what she does called Arcane Archer. Maybe i post her on this tread someday, if you guys want to see her or what she look like?
