I know you guys probably get this a lot...but I'm just starting to play ShockEd Fan Missions and am probably going to get started building in ShockEd...my one question is...what program do you use to play the Fan Missions besides using the editor (if that is even possible) ...any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks in advance for your help...

While there are quite a bunch of unfinished FMs that need to be opened via the editor, FMs usually are played via the game. They work by replacing level files, etc. which is why you either want to back up these files or use the modmanager.

Of you guys...now I have to find my SS2 disk and install it...I decided to create 2 installs of SS2 (one regular for FM's and one for just playing the game). If anyone else has suggestions, though, don't be hessident (sp.) to post it.
Thanks,

I look forward to your first effort, no doubt to be titled, "Mission...".

"Operation find where the author decided to hide the god damned door" is also very popular this days for novelty fan missions on various games.
And makes you wonder how they expect you to play bombing you with 200 monsters per second, hey guys this one is real easy...

Read (
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php/topic,106.0.html) this please. It's a 3 step guide that gives you a good install with merged CRFs and the modmanager on top so you can easily install mods and FMs.
You want a separate install for shocked though. The modmanager and shocked are not compatible.

And before you ask, IIRC it's because the MM (Mod Manager) requires a slightly different file structure in the root ss2 folder to ShockEd's.

Upon installation the modmanager writes a database of all game files and works with that while backing up / replacing files. That's why you shouldn't muck about in the game folder manually after you have the modmanager installed.
If you use shocked in the same folder you do just that. You add files, change files and so on. It's just asking for trouble.
