Okay, I have some some questions about factions. What factions will conflict with each other? So far, I am a member of the Blades, the fighters guild, the temple, and the mages guild. I want to join the Imperial Legion and the Imperial cult soon. Will I be able to rise to the highest ranking in all of these guilds? Eventually I will join the Morag Tong and/or thieves guild. But I have killed a thieves guild member in a fighter's guild quest. I know I will have a conflict between the mages guild and the temple. I prefer the mages guild, but want to obtain the minimum ranking in the temple to get the conjuration Master Trainer. Will I be kicked out of the temple guild by later mages quest guilds?
Thanks
Rob

I belong to 8 legit factions and I did rise to the top of them all. The trick to the whole game is not to get caught when killing people of other factions you've joined (or will join). Also, if they attack you first it won't be counted against you. The best bet is to join as many as you can right off the bat because of the benifits you recieve joining faction -- mainly trainers. The mages guild is the one I would join right off the get go since you can transport to other towns without having to walk all over the place.
I would also get the charm spell as soon as possible since the AI's reaction tward you is effected by their attitude bar.
Just FYI, you can belong to (and GM) every player-joinable faction (and only one House, of course) at the same time. Re: the FG vs. the TG, I think you're probably too late, but next time just be sure to get your FG missions from Ald'Ruhn & Sadrith Mora whenever possible; they'll make sure you get to the top w/out pissing off the Thieves.

Anybody can use it. Of course, it's probably cheaper for guild members. I haven't looked.

I got half way through House Redoran and was so dissapointed with the faction i restarted with a battle mage character and joined the Telvanni. The Telvanni faction is the best i've ever joined - the locations, buildings, characters and rewards surpass all other factions i've tried. I've become Archmagister of the Telvanni and i have to say the final stage stronghold is worth all the effort; compared to the other strongholds the Telvanni one is by far the biggest and most characterful.

*nod* I've done all 3, and I've gotta agree that the Telvanni have the most character... albeit wierd character ;)
Hlaalu is a very close runner-up, if only because I like the whole 'secret agent man' genre, which they mostly consist of.
Redoran, IMHO, stink; they don't appreciate the player's efforts (no reward, "oh, you're done? Do this now" reactions to solving quests, etc.)
