Hello everyone. My campaign re-edition is coming along nicely, thanks in part to the help I can find on the forums as well as on the discord servers. 3 missions are almost complete, and another 4 or 5 are well underway, and with some luck I'll hopefully meet my 2022 deadline.
As I've been attempting to plan my campaign as a whole, I've realised that I need more than the two default skybox textures (dsky and nsky). I'm working with T1 old dark (but a new dark edition will be worked on as well). I need at least a third sky: dusk, representing a particular environment.
So, my question is this: is there a way to add a 3rd skybox texture for a campaign? (I'll be using all of the other default skies throughout the campaign: stars, cloudy day and moonlit night) If so, how would the setup go?

Step 1: Put your custom skybox textures where the existing skybox texture are.
Step 2: Use it just like you use the existing skybox textures.
I'm not getting where the problem is.

I may be misremembering but doesn't OldSky in Old Dark just have a drop-down menu rather than any sensible way of setting up sky? If that's the case, no idea how you would solve it. Is there nothing about sky in the official Dromed docs? I know there is for T2 skies.
If not, what ZB said.
Otherwise, it's another problem easily solved by upgrading to ND, I'm afraid!

The drop down is just for choosing between stars (either the T1 style plain stars or NewSky) or a skybox, but the exact skybox is determined using the load_sky command.

Just to make things clear, here's a representation of how the different missions in my campaign will use sky boxes.
mission 1: uses dsky
mission 2: uses default starry sky
mission 3: uses nsky
mission 4: i'd like to use a custom sky texture (msky? ssky?)
mission 5: uses nsky
etc.
The drop down menu in T1olddark is indeed to determine the sky rendering mode (stars or textures), and then I have to type load_sky dsky or load_sky nsky for one of the two default sky textures. I can't overwrite these in my campaign file directory, as this would forbid me from using all of the default sky textures. I'm looking to add a third skybox texture.

Well, I was expecting some manipulation of the gamesys to be necessary, but you're suggesting I can just put the custom msky or ssky textures in the same directory as the existing skyboxes? Well I haven't tried this yet but it's worth a shot.

Worst case, could you release your campaign as a set of standalone missions? Then it would be trivial to have a different sky for each mission.

Oye, so this is one of those fabled, "Help, I've tried nothing and it didn't work." tech support threads.

Well, I wouldn't say I had tried nothing, rather I'm looking for advice on where to start looking. And as I found no thread previously covering this topic, I chose to write my own (for future reference also). I find everyone's feedback to be useful, if not to find an answer, at least for brainstorming.
I attempted to put new sky textures in my fam/sky folder, and gave them names following the default skies (Mskye, MskyN, MskyS, MskyT, MskyW), and at first this had no success. I then noticed a fam/skyhw folder, containing similar files. Once I added the files in this folder as well, the custom sky appeared in game. So I'm happy to announce that, thanks to your feedback, it appears to work now (at least in DromEd).

First. Close your eyes. Make a wish. Turn around three times. Walla.
