so.. UNATCO can just turn on the kill switch to kill one of the agent that they dont like... but why dont they do it again to JC Denton? Tracer Tong merely just turned it off but not removing it out of Denton's body. Besides Denton didn't immediately go after the underwater base right after Hong Kong, why didn't UNATCO or FEMA just turn on the switch again if it's as simple as flip on a switch?
I think there is a glitch in the story plot.

IIRC Tong didn't just "turn it off" he deactivated it. This would suggest he rendered it inoperative.

All the nano-augmented agents have a kill switch in some form or another, just in case they should rebel against their creators. ;) Anna and Gunther's killswitches were always "on" and needed to be triggered by the appropriate killphrase. JC and Paul's killswitches didn't rely on voice or a particular trigger; they were just timed.
I'm not convinced that's a better way to do it (certainly safer; I wouldn't want to stand within earshot of an exploding agent), but that's the route they chose.

Yes, BUT...
Nano-agents don't explode. they just die. The nanobots just keep replicating exponentially until they consume the body. That's why Paul sounds really ill in the 'Ton, he' being eaten alive from the inside.
Nasty, but how would you prefer to die, BANG! BANG! or nibble nibble?

The plot hole is why is Paul hurting from the killswitch within 2-5 hours of its activation, while JC felt fine even 16 hours into it. Problem with the plot.

Paul has more <del>midichlo</del>nanites so they could replicate faster?
ICEBreaker on 19/6/2002 at 05:14
Can you explain a bit more for me. I didn't know there were significant differences between Paul and JC.
Talgor on 19/6/2002 at 05:47
Paul at least had more augmentations "installed" than JC did at that point in the game, and had had them for a while. At least I remember him having shields and everything when I once attacked him before entering the base for the first time...

Tracer Tong said "it was merely turning the switch off that's why it was so fast" or something like that, right after he turns off the Denton's kill switch.

I guess the guys in charge wouldn't notice it too soon... they turned it on, there's prolly no blinking sign and buzzing sound when it's turned off again...
