All I have a daytime mission and some of the guards mentioned stuff like "it's cold tonight".... is there anyway to see the dialogue for a guard and exclude certain lines or are you stuck with all the things they say unless you just turn off their voice?
Thanks

You need to create a custom schema that omits those lines if you don't want them to say them.
You can edit the existing schema that exists for whichever guard voice and remove that line. Then just reload schemas.

Hm... interesting.. never did that before.
How do I do that without affecting the main game? Do i just put the one schema file in the FM zip or do I need to put all of them in the zip? Not sure how to reload schemas...
Any tutorial on editing / loading schemas?

You don't include schema files with FMs. Schemas live in the gamesys. The external schema files are just the source code for them.

Ok, i'm lost now. I will definitely need to find a tutorial on this.... I did a google search and was brought to a wiki page that I'm not sure has what I'm looking for and a direct link to 404 page not found...

Thank you!

Well, think I got it working but not sure how to tell other than playing the mission and just waiting around near the guards forever to see if he never says it, lol.
When i try to sample the schema in dromed it just plays first bit and not all the speech.

Yeah messing with the schemas is not fun. The line about "it's awful cold out here..." is part of the vguard3 speech (aka Benny), and the sound file is sg3a0mu2.wav.
I think basically you have to go to the SG3.sch file, find the section below:
schema sg3a0ch
archetype AI_NONE
volume -500
delay 5000
mono_loop 7500 15000
sg3a0mu1 sg3a0mu2 sg3a0mu3 sg3a0tc1 sg3a0tc2 sg3a0tc3
schema_voice guard3 1 atlevelzero
Then delete sg3a0mu2 and save the file. Create a folder under your main Thief directory and call it SCHEMA. Put the new file there. Open up your mission in DromEd and type in the bottom right command window "reload_schemas"
NOTE: it might be that when you reload the schemas it blows away everything except what's in your current schema folder. So, to be safe I would follow this instruction from Thief-The Circle that Zylon directed you to: "The first thing you need to do is to get the schema files themselves. They are not by default in your Thief directory, even on full install. They should be on one of the Thief discs in a folder called Schemas. You need to grab all of the files in this folder, including Speech.spc and Envsound.spc. "
NOTE: There is also a vcop3 voice which is mostly the same as vguard3. If you're using the "cop/bluecoat" version of Benny you would have to remove sg3a0mu2 there as well.

Yep, you detailed out exactly what I did! It's working, I have not heard him say it, and I'm safe with schemas (had all of it). Anyway, its helpful that anyone else with this problem can read your post. It also gives me peace of mind that what I did was right, so thanks!
