Turns out moving an entire restaurant of gear (that'd seat around 110 people) including all of the wine and glasswear five storeys up wasn't needed!
You needed the exercise. ;)

Caboolture was cut off, but I have no idea how Narangba is doing in general. A bit of googling says around 80 homes were flooded but in general the region wasn't hit as badly as elsewhere.
Thanks. It is not easy to get this kind of information here in Sydney.

grats on not drowning fellas
On a more general point, why do people persist in building on flood plains? What do they think will happen?

Australia generally is kind of a real estate casino. If you hang around here for a while and see our national obsession with redevelopment in the absence of disasters, it starts to make sense. (Perth's built on a sandy swamp plain liable to turn into quicksand should any significant water turn up. Not exactly on the cards at the moment but hey)

...what I said earlier to you too, Shug--and all.

Australia is a country I've thought about relocating to in the past and might in the future... can anyone speak to how they like living there vs. elsewhere?

from what i've gathered during my years spent reading about those weird people, australia is that cursed place which is both absolutely uninhabitable and which you'll never want to leave afterwards

But if you hadn't done it you just know that shit would have flooded.
