I just thought of yet another question.
What's up with the Puzzle Canal at Vivec's temple (in Vivec...)???
I mean, i know what's UP, sort of. I know that there are five floors, and each one leads you into two corridors, connected by another.
The entrances on the starting side lead you to where you got in, but that back ones get you to the outside of another. I've tried going through them all, and end up in the same place: Nowhere.
oh yeah, and on level three, halfway between the two corridors, is a 5th door that leads to a room with a platform in the middle, which a shrine in the middle that says somthing about getting to Vivec (a hint, i assumed)
Well, the hint went straight over my head, and i have no idea how to solve the puzzle.
(oh yeah, and in the hint room, there's a big door you have to levitate or jump to (if you can) but is blocked by some clear blue wall (similar to that of Ghostgate's wall))
Now, after all that, i REALLY want to find out what's through that huge door, and i have a funny feeling it has something to do with figuring out the Puzzle Canal, which i can't do!
So, in short, how do you solve the Puzzle Canal's puzzle? If anyone out there can tell me how, i would be very pleased!
Thanks a lot (and again),

This is part of the Pilgram's Path quest to join the Temple. It's one of the Seven Shrines you need to visit.
If you read the hint, it says "breathe the water of life to do something or other."
While in the big middle room with the shrine, you need to get into the water (anywhere is fine), and stay there until your health goes to zero. So make sure you aren't using any water breathing spells. Once you "die," the screen will go black, and then you'll hear a clap of thunder. Get out of the water and the magical barrier will be gone.

Thanks. It seems so obvious when you know how to do it.
But how, on a similar note, do you start the Pilgram's Path, anyway? I can remember hearing about it, or reading about it, or whatever, but how do you go about starting? Rather, who should I see to start it, and where?
Oh, and one more point, I've beaten the game, but as far as i know that doesn't mean anything as far as side-quests go, but just in case, now you know.
Thanks again,

You may find the book “The Pilgrim’s Path” at a bookstore, and it will guide you through the process of visiting the seven shrines. However, if you want to do it as part of a quest, it is the first of the Temple quests. Join the Temple faction at (any?) one of the temples on the island and you will be given “The Pilgrim’s Path” and encouraged to complete the seven pilgrimages. That will open the door to many other Temple quests. The only downside to joining the Temple is that the ordinators treat you better—I relish their abuse :erg:.

True, there is a certain maverick thrill to having the word "scum" growled at you every time one of them walks past. It just makes you feel like everything's right with the world, you know? :)

Well they call me scum so much and I usaully restart about the time they stop. It is amazing actaully being treated like a citzen for once, it makes me feel like I belong and I own them ordinator bitches :ebil:

Is there only the 2 puzzles in the canal (The drowning and the silver sword) or is there more?

Is it just me, or was the puzzle canal a bit of a disappointment? I thought it was going to be full of treasure.. is there actualy any purpose to it other than the pilgrimage?
Jordana on 12/9/2004 at 20:16
I don't think there is....one of the in-game books describes it as a testing ground for those hoping to earn Vivec's favour, and I think there's a mention of treasures guarded by Daedric servants, but all I've ever seen are empty identical passages :erg:

There are 5 silver longswords which could be worth a bit as a newbie. But I was dissappointed when I found them because it took me ages to find a silver longsword BEFORE I went in.
