Well, Putin is right, but the bare-faced hypocrisy of the man is staggering.

On one hand, Putin is pointing out the obvious. On the other, something clearly screams "distraction!"

Vladimir Putin, more like Vladimir Putin' the sass back into assassinating dissidents.

Latest news suggest Politkovskaya was assasinated by Chechnian dissidents. A likely story, indeed! Not at all a work of fiction, or distraction.

So, did the British investigation get anywhere? If so, was anything publicized or are the media over there as piss-poor as our counterparts when it comes to following up?
Anyway, I would imagine that Russia's global intelligence is on par with ours, although we do seem to be more militarily present throughout the world than any other country. Putin didn't say anything that came as a shock, but given the past Russian administrations' reluctance to use such direct and stong language, I'd think that he's trying to do more than just cover up his own issues.

Quote:
a senior official said investigators had concluded the murder of Litvinenko was "a 'state-sponsored' assassination orchestrated by Russian security services."
Holy shit, they called it a spade.
In the end, I think that Putin probably does whatever he does for the sole purpose of remaining in power, and he's not alone.

The double-punch of Bush and Putin makes me want to kill myself.
