ive heard of these, and they sound useful, and ive read some articles on where the indexes are, but when i go to those plces and look for the indexes they arnt there, how do i find them, do i have to go someplace first before i can see any indexes?
i have the xbox version of the game, i dont know if this makes a difference, as all these sites seem to be targeted at the PC version

Just so you know what to look for, those indices are nothing but a grey rock that is in the vague shape of a cone.

Yes, they are rather insignificant-looking and very easy to miss. I bought my first one from Irgola the pawnbroker in Caldera- I had no idea what it was at the time, but I was intrigued. Anyway, if you want to see what one looks like, barter with him, it'll be in his for sale inventory. Or look for it on his window sill.

Does anyone know of more locations to these?
I know of the one that the Urshilaku Wise Woman has on her table, and the one Irgola has, but besides that, I can't find any more and I've beaten the game and scoured the continent.
I've even given up on playing fair and am just slaughtering entire twons looking for unique items...heh heh heh
but those indexes are impossible
Does anyone know where the other seven are? (there are nine I believe)

If you want to use the propylon indices, there's a plugin on the official site that has an "index quest", where someone sends you off to look for them. If you find them all, you can access them from the Mages' Guild in Caldera.
