David has given me thumbs up on this, so here goes. A magazine publisher publishing CS/IT periodicals in several European countries, for whom I have been contracting as a translator, is looking for proofreaders of articles from the fields of CS and IT, primarily software development- or Linux-related, translated into English. I asked and the country of residence doesn't matter much to them (all the work is handed over and returned via e-mail and contracts can be sent by post if convenient), so I figured perhaps some of you might be interested. No, I don't get paid for headhunting for them :)
Myself I can only encourage you to at least try. For the amount of time one has to spend on a text the pay is really good, so even though I wouldn't make this my primary source of income it's not a bad side source. As for reliability, I've been cooperating with them for almost 2 years and haven't had any problems so far; BTW. it is of course all legal, on paper, taxes paid and so on.
If you're interested, let me know by PM/e-mail or on IRC and I'll let you know more details about the company and get you in touch with the person who asked me to spread the word.

I could do that, if it doesn't require field specific knowledge of IT. I'm starting a PhD in English in a few months and am currently doing a masters so my credentials are good. Only thing is, I'm not sure I'm allowed to do paid work while I'm living on this grant, so I'd need to check.

I think I might want some more info on that too, so next time you're in IRC I'll give you a poke.

Nice to have got so much feedback... I don't know how many people they need at the moment, but the person I have given you address of should be able to take care of the details. By the way, you've probably figured this out yourselves, but just in case - please don't pass that information further.
As for everyone else who might be interested but hasn't got a response yet, please wait a bit - I need to know whether they need anyone more. I'll write more after I've got that information.
