Saw this quote from Danny McBride, one of the actors in Covenant:
Quote:
I'm not allowed to talk a lot about what happens in it, but it is a straight horror movie. I've never been on something that intense before, with that level of visual effects and gore. I've also never been in a movie where people just straight up die like that. When I started the movie, the cast would go to these dinners and it was like twenty people. Then each week, the numbers dwindled and it became less and less people at the table.
Not that all the deaths are surprising, but hopefully the movie will be genuinely scary.

I don't really have high hopes to be honest. What's left to say about the alien? What's Ridley got left to say?

Vaginas, that's what. There's always room to talk about that.

I wasn't entirely sure what he really said the last time TBH.

I'm pretty sure it was an argument for planned parenthood.

It could be interpreted as a sort of weird advert for gaviscon. You drink something weird and have an upset stomach and some dude with really chalky-white skin suddenly starts showing an interest.

don't pet the penis-worm.
A bit more seriously, I think there's some sort of message about "meet your maker" in there. What would we say to them, do we even really want to know why we're here. Maybe the danger of gaining knowledge more generally. A bit muddled maybe and the film is frustrating in some ways (scientists being ridiculously unprofessional). But also, it looked great. I had quite positive impressions overall.

No thanks on the sequel. I only gave Prometheus a chance because of Ridley Scott's pedigree, and that's two regretful hours I'll never get back. Like a lot of musicians, he enjoyed short period of fruitful work and he's been coasting on it ever since.

Prometheus felt like fanfic made into a film, so I'm not that hopeful.

Am I to understand the big white guy gods are not going to be in this one at all? Shaw taking her pissed off nothing to lose self to meet and bitch slap them was the only interesting thing to propel a new plot from. Sooooo okay then, a planet of genetic warfare gone amok instead. Eh. Everything these days feels like a fanfic made into a film so why not? Crap. More CGI driven drivel instead of plot. When will people realize the most important part of a movie is the writing of it? Meeting our arrogant absentee creators should offer some amazing possibilities for a rising above them.
