And I am actually looking forward to finding out what they're gonna do for a sequel.
Write a script before they start shooting, let us hope.

Haha, yeah. :)

I finally saw this last weekend on the plane home from London. Glad I never went to the Imax to see it on the big screen.
Fassbender was good though.

It's a tricky thing, though - I saw it at the cinema on a fairly big (though not IMAX) screen, and I'm glad I saw it there, because 90% of the film's appeal lies in its visuals. Lose the visuals and you've got some nice performances, but mostly you've got a script that is pedestrian at best and lazy, smug and not a tenth as smart as it seems to consider itself at worst.

Yup, all of that. Prometheus is great if you like visuals; that's the single greatest redeeming factor - everything else is terrible, shallow, and not terribly well thought-out.

I'll say one thing for Prometheus: people may not like it very much but at least people are talking about it in its own thread, unlike every other recent movie thread around here lately.
The point of this post made a lot more sense in the thread it was in originally.

Saw Prometheus, finally. I enjoyed it much more than I expected, but maybe that's at least partly because I had no great expectations ;)

I saw Prometheus last night and have to admit that I liked it. From a lot of fan reviews I'd read I was rather expecting to see a disjointed mish-mash of stunningly beautiful scenic shots that had nothing to do with a plot that was allegedly just as disjointed and vague. I was pleasantly surprised. Imo, Prometheus did a great job of explaining the origin of the Aliens, though I'm still a little confused as to why the super-human tried to kill everyone once he was awakened - was he already infected with one of the too-many-to-count bio-weapons that was making him nuts or was he just homicidal by nature?
I knew the visuals would be breathtaking since that's Ridley Scott's forte, so I wasn't disappointed at all in that respect. Fassbender did a superlative job portraying the android, though Pierce & Theron's characters seemed rather one-dimensional. I would've liked to have seen a little more character development for the certain other crew members, but in spite of that and the fact that the pace of the movie seemed a little rushed in the wrong places, I still enjoyed it. I'll probably watch it again to pick up the stuff I missed the first time.
