Oh for heaven's sake.

Did anyone else have a problem with Guy Pearce as hundred-year-old Peter Weyland? Could they not find an actual old person? I did appreciate him in the TED talk trailer thing, but it just seemed bizarre to go to that length to keep him.
Also, I felt like a lot of the violence in the film just crossed into unintentional hilarity. And I'm not usually one to laugh at violence. It was just so over-the-top at times, while trying to be serious, that I couldn't help but not take it seriously at all. Especially Vickers' death. I mean, come on! Squashed by a giant rolling Engineer spaceship? I also laughed when, after they did the whole running-along-the-train-tracks sequence and finally Noomi Rapace decides to go sideways, the ship then rolls sideways...

I noticed the arrow just after posting, but I didn't want to spoil my Aliens quote.

I must be blind, 'cause I don't see it.

Not sure what I'm supposed to see either...
Seeing this tonight in 3D IMAX!

I think it's the fact that Microsoft are still going strong in 2089.

Wow - the metro interface is far more impressive than I've been led to believe.

Just saw this, jazzed enough that I wrote a rough blog entry on it - needs serious revision but I'll share in a couple days (and afterwards read through this thread - stoked to have a TTLG crowd to discuss this with instead of the "that was weird" bozos I went with).

I *liked* that character, and that kind of giggle-worthy death is usually reserved for characters that the audience hates.
