Anybody watch in 3D and if so, is it worth it? I'm debating whether to wait until I'm back in Sydney in a few weeks where I can see it in 3D in a huge IMAX theatre.

Yes, worth it at the IMAX. Can't say what it'd be like in other theatres. It's full of grand imagery and I was so glad I went to an IMAX because of the screen size. The 3D is okay, but it was more important for me that it was massive.

Thanks. I'll be patient then.

All I've been hearing is a repeat of what I was saying when all you Lost crazies got sucked in.
Damon, Fucking, Lindelof.

I'm coming down on the it's a goddamn mess side of things. Too many characters, a lot of gesturing about faith but with very little to say, and don't we all know that Chariots of the Gods is goddamn lame by now? It is an impeccably designed, lit and shot mess though, with some great sequences that hints at what could've been a much better movie, especially the opening bit with David. Michael Fassbender turns in an amazing performance there. I kind of wish he could've taken Idris Elba and Charlize Theron with him and gone and made a better movie.

I can imagine a Director's Cut release to follow on DVD at some point; one that fills in a lot of the blanks, gives the characters more time to develop, etc. Much better than the Theatrical Release, in a nutshell. Seems par for the course with R Scott nowadays.
As it stands, the movie's got potential, and it's not half bad, but it's too disjointed to be a truly great one.

It sounds like one of the main reasons to see this is the visuals, which would speak for seeing it at the cinema... yet the mess that is the script makes me wary of spending money on this. Ah well.

The visuals and Michael Fassbender. It's definitely one to see on as big a screen as possible.

Fassbender's definitely one to watch out for in general. Shame that the film's other good actors don't seem to have particularly great material (and Scott wouldn't be the director to help them make more of the material either).
How scary is the film? My girlfriend isn't a big fan of horror, but she's a reasonably big fan of going to the cinema with me (and vice versa). :)
