Another confused gamer here. Project Nomads is similar to X:BTF? WTF?!? :) I noted the difference in spelling, but just thought it was a typo. Clearly my brain skipped past the genre description immeditely prior to the X/Elite bit!
I've been meaning to write something about "Project Nomads" (an action/strategy game bearing no resemblance to X:BTF) for a while, as I played it a few months back and quite enjoyed it (not least for its artistic design; see screen below). I'll get to it at some point...

Ok, let me clarify a few things:
1) I was speaking about a game called "Nomad"/"Project Nomad" from 1993 which was an Elite-style space sim/trader/adventure.
2) Project Nomad is not to be confused with Project Nomads (a much later game of a completely different genre), despite the extremely simlar name.
3) Omikron: Nomad Soul is also a different game of a different genre.
Nomad is so forgotten that you can't even get it on Ebay/Chips&Bits/Amazon. No web pages about it on the net except for the Underdogs, a very short FAQ on (
http://www.gamefaqs.com) GameFAQs and a paragraph on MobyGames. It really deserves an extensive FAQ.

*sigh* a popular name it is :)

Yes, this is the game I referred to.

I remember that game! It was great fun, I seem to recall :)
I'm sure I've got the box kicking around somewhere...

Their version is unfinished and apparently has some game-stopping bugs...

Nah... the latest CVS is fine... it even has the intro slideshow!
Unless they reintroduced a bug or two of course :)

Yeah, just got an e-mail saying they finely updated it, so I'll try that out. Hopefully it fixed those 3 bugs that others said were in the previous one (had to do with the 3D0 version not giving you hints for something, or something).
