Been a while, but here are some screenshots on how the game is looking, with models and shader action going on!
The dagger still needs to be textured, and those trees are placeholders.

I'm renaming this to just the Project Maiko thread because it was pointed out that I have made multiple threads already and, since I don't want to be a spammer, I'm just going to from now on keep it all in this thread. I apologize for the annoyance I caused before.

Hey everyone! Just sharing this to show what work is being done so far. It's an early version of the tutorial level for the game I'm working on, "Project Maiko". The goal is to simply get through all the areas until you reach the theater, then reach the stage and from there it ends. There are not many assets in the game yet, so it's more demonstrating some rudimentary gameplay, show the AI progress, some asset progress (Namely the progress on the basic enemies). This goes without saying that there are almost certainly still bugs or odd behavior in the game, so please let me know of any you find so I can fix them (It's INCREDIBLY easy to overlook things).
All the audio assets are nicked from Thief 2, but these are all of course placeholders until we get our own audio assets.
Still no word on when this will be done, but it will take at the very least another 2 years, due to how much work needs to be done, the fact we are all learning as we go, and other obligations. But, even so I just want to further show this is a thing being made!
Also, those are also placeholder trees. The ones we will actually use look NOTHING like those. I'm just using basic ugly Unity trees as placeholders. Also also I don't know what's with the "light gem" texture, it only ever does this in a web player and never does it in Unity or the .exe build.(

I just entered Maiko into the IEEE GameSig competition. Here is a video showing some art and gameplay progress. Just FYI the video and VO is not me, but someone who knows how to make proper videos :laff:

Is it possible to get past the 3rd guy? The one in the tunnel? He just stands there with his back so close against the wall I can't sneak behind him.
Nice to see you still working on this, but isn't this like the 5th thread you've made about it? Try to keep it all in one thread. It'll cut down on clutter and make it easier to follow along in the development progress.

Got a link to a downlodable? Neither Chrome, Opera or Edge will allow me to run it.

Yeah, the Unity WebPlayer doesn't work on a lot of browsers. I.E. runs it, although ctrl-w closes the window... Cool that you're making progress.

I don't know, but I will keep that in mind from now on so I don't seem like I'm spamming. And right now invisibility or disabling the lights is the way to do it. That will be the section though that introduces killing light sources.
As I said I realize it's extremely rough still, but I just wanted to get some feedback and also notifications of any major bugs that I overlooked, of which I have no doubt there are several. I want to try and get them early on.

From now on I'm just going to use this thread to post all the updates on the game, rather than be an obnoxious ass and create multiple ones over time :laff:

Just shared a few screenshots to show how the game is looking right now! Progress is a bit slow but bare in mind this is a student project, but now that I'm interning at a start up there is a chance this will start seeing more constant development!

It looks like you're making some real progress. If you want to replace the Thief 2 sounds with ones you can redistribute, check out (

I'll keep that in mind, and yeah we are. We can't work on this constantly but the game is slowly but surely coming together. Majority of the basic mechanics are in place, and just need some fine tuning.
