Hey All
As this game is mentioned to be the grand daddy of System Shock-like games, I thought it would be good to mention that a remake of this Commodore 64 game was released recently as part of this years Retro Remakes competition over at remakes.org
Screenies:

Had a quick play through of the game, and I really enjoyed it. Its no System Shock by a longshot, but its good for something along similar lines.

Never had a C64, so I don't know the game... but I'm still giving it a try :)
Edit: Uhoh... there's no option to invert the mouse Y-axis... which makes the game practically impossible for me to play :(

the game crashed with an error message when i was swapping out weapons. what's the deal?

Be sure to post any problems you have with it there. Right click to change weapons by the way. Took me a few mins to work it out as I`m so used to standard FPS number changing for weapons.
I put in a request for both the weapon changing bug + the mouse axis option to be added.
[edit]
Not long after posting the request I got the following reponse:
- If I do an update on Project Firestart (which a lot of people have been asking me to do..) then i'll definately do the inverted mouse function, although that might not be for awhile.
- The game unfortunately has random crashes which I didn't have the time to hunt down. I've never seen it happen when switching guns though.

I played it last night and really enjoyed it. I didn't finished it, I run out of ammo and get killed so I will try it again. ;)
I don't have any problems, crashes or bugs. :)

Finding the armories usually bypasses the ammo issue. Memorizing the various floors of the ship and your key objectives (given to you in the intro) is the key things to beating the game. Took me about 5 tries before I eventually beat the game. Though I need to go back and play it again at some stage to try and get a better ending.

I've mentioned a desire for someone to make a SS2 version of Project Firestart in these forums a few times, and it's still sitting in my queue of modding projects. It's without a doubt one of my top favorite games ever.
Good to see it's at least been made into an FPS, although it looks like it could use some work in the horror-atmosphere dep't, at least from these screenshots. It looks a little too whitewashed here considering its potential. I'll take a look at it and consider whether I should keep it in my queue or not.
