You didn't like Bedlam In Goliath, froz? I'll admit, every album is a strange experience. At first, I hate them. And slowly, I get it and start to love it. The last album was meh, but Bedlam has some rockin tunes. Agadez and Goliath take special note. Granted, it's definitely more crazy funky jazz chaos fusion than DeLoused but I gotta say I really dig it. =/ The more they put Latin influences into the music the more I like it.

I like The Mars Volta, but their progressiveness is vastly overrated. Lopez going through endless permutations of blues scales and throwing dissonant chords here and there playing in arythmic fashion is not something that amazing. I mean, De-Loused and Frances I love, but it has continued the same ever since.

As far as I remember, Red is quite hard to listen :erg: (meaning very complex)
Huh? No, Red is one of their more accessible records. The last track features a one-note guitar solo, for goodness' sake. It's certainly not as difficult to get into as Larks' Tongues in Aspic, and it's much more melodic.

I remember there were a few tunes on that album that were neat- one of them was particularly Megaman boss fight music, but I haven't bothered with Octahedron

Fuck Mars Volta. The Ocean Collective is what Mars Volta should have been.
