Any fans here for exchanging some chat?
Four tracks that comes in my mind:
Marillion - He Knows You Know
(
http://ttlg.ttlg.mobi/forums/member.php?u=8926) YcatX's Seluah - Signals You Still Know
Pink Floyd - Dogs
Pink Floys - Sheep
The second band is not properly progressive, they are a midst between electronic, psychedelic, garage rock, slow rock, but summed together they could result progressive as well, since progressive music, generally, is contamination. They are awesome. I suggest to listen "Signals You Still Know" somewhere in the Net, because it worths.

I can bet you my entire fortune (not a handsome bet unfortunately) that someone is going to come in and tell me that my taste in music is terrible and I should die for even mentioning it, but I am a big fan of progressive music, mostly of the rock and metal kind.
My holy trinity of progressive bands are:
The Mars Volta
Tool
Opeth

Tool... already read then on this forum. The Opeth... hmmm. it wasn't a metal band? The other one... I don't know it.
What do you think about the Pink Floyd's song "Dogs"? I'm listening it now, and everytime I notice how genial is, with the barkings of the dog modulated with the chords with the vochord (if I recall correct the name of this incredible device).

Dogs is wonderful. It's a vocoder. I wonder if Maynard squeezing his cat for Mantra counts...

hahahahhah dammit! sounds funny
Another great piece that comes in my mind it's the King Crimson's "Larks' Tongues in Aspic", in "The ConstruKCtion Of Light" album, dated 2000. This piece is so complex that seems pure folly and geniality at the same time. I advice you this one.

More prog metal than prog rock, to be honest. And that's only a small portion of what I listen to.

I love me some prog:
Rush
Yes
Dream Theater/LTE/The Jelly Jam/Transatlantic/John Petrucci/Ruddess & Morgenstein
Jellyfish
King's X/Ty Tabor
Galactic Cowboys
Spock's Beard
(

Soilwork
post-90's Winger/Kip Winger
...and Maiden, Queensryche, Testament, Living Color, and Fishbone - though these aren't technically "prog" they blend genres like most prog bands and can play their asses off.
Never been able to get into Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis, Opeth, or the Flower Kings. I like most Tool but hated the last album.

Tool isn't really prog, it's a very early example of post-metal, and highly influential on one of my favourite bands- Isis.
But to be fair, post-rock/post-hardcore/post-metal are rather similar to prog in lots of ways; they're basically reaching the same conclusion via different paths, if that makes sense.
I'm definitely a fan of the post genres more than I am of prog, though.
