Hi guys, my computer suddenly seems to have slowed to a crawl. It doesn't seem to be because of programs running, I rebooted and don't have many going at all; it's not disk capacity, I recently bought a new harddrive. My processor's been fine all this time. Performance is 25% CPU usage right now, nothing overwhelming is happening... but uninstalling a program, writing a DVD, loading a program, this is all taking way too long. I stopped a DVD writing process after 18 hours. Nothing's working. What should my first step be?

Thanks for the theory, but following the instructions, it looks like DMA is already active.

My first thought would be malware but running through (

I've improved things with my pc recently using Wise Registry Cleaner and Wise Disc Cleaner. I used to use others but I've found these more user friendly. I also use Auslogic Disk Defragmenter which is a lot quicker than the Windows one.

Check your BIOS, my processor came severely underclocked and when something goes wrong it reverts to the slow speed.
