Hi
I have just tried to patch Morrowind ( I am fairly sure that I have the right patch: Us patch for English version); but the game told me something like "Old file not found. but another file with the same name was found. Patch aborted."
Ok, I thought some of the plugins had messed up something, so I uninstalled the complete game and reinstalled it.
But still, when I try to patch, I get that message.
Anyone know what is wrong?
Secondly, I have been having problems with the plugins ( even with the official ones such as Bitter Coats Sounds and The Entertainer)
Could someone tell me how to "install" them properly? Because I think the way that is described in their read-me's isn't working right.
Any help is appreciated

The US patch applies if you have bought your game in US or Australia/NZ.

I bought the game over Amazon, and I think they said something about it being the original version. The game is in English, so it could also be "only" the British version, but I doubt that there would be differences between the US and the British versions.
It might be that I downloaded the wrong patch.
How can I tell which patch (US or European version) I need to get?

If you can find a Ubi Soft logo on the box/manual you have the European version.

Ok, I checked it; seems I have the European version. That means I have downloaded the wrong patch, doesn't it?. GRRRR, why can't they just make identifying the versions a little easier??
Thanks WingedKagouti
Anyone else have some ideas/ help for the plug-in problem?
I can't seem to get them into the game properly.

Hmm.. well, copying them into the same directory as Morrowind.esp is one step; the second step is using the option (which I forget, but might be named 'Data Files') in the Morrowind launcher (look in morrowind.exe's directory) to select which data files (ie: plugins) you want to use. Then play like normal.

assuming you've installed it, open the editor &
hit "File"
then hit "Data Files".
put a check next to morrowind.esm
put a check next to ONE plug-in (double click)
select 'set as active'
hit ok
when it says - Done! hit file/save
uncheck the plug-in just saved & repeat the process for ea plug-in

Thanks all, i have now managed to get some plug-ins to work.
But for the patch. I have now downloaded both, the US and the European. Neither work and I don't know why. With the US version I get that strange "same name of file but different" message, and the European patch will not work, it closes because of some error.
Not that I really needed that patch -I have heard a lot of differing opinions and will probably just wait for a newer one- but it would be nice to know why the patches don't work.

Hmm.. one stupid question; is it possible that the US patch managed to install some files, and that screwed it up just enough for the European patch to fail? If so, you might try uninstalling Morrowind (saving your savegames beforehand, of course), reinstalling, and then using the European patch.
(That, or your copy of the European patch perhaps got corrupted during its d/l?)
