Hi all!
When I play Thief/1/G/2 and System Shock 2 on any resoulution higher than 800x600, My LCD TV Shows what looks to be like interferance (Lines going diagonally from the top right to the bottom left of my TV).
EDIT: The lines which are barly visible but enough to ruin the immersion are not fixed they go from up and down to the diaganals)
Im using a: Bauer XT 32 inches LCD TV
Connected to a : Geforce MMX 440 with AGP 8x (Latest Drivers)
Other specs:
AMD Athleon MMX 3DNOW 1.2Ghz
512mb RAM
Toshiba Audio/USB Hub (Creative 5.1 Soundcard)
Win XP SP2
Can any one tell me how to fix this problem? (If at all, without buying a new TV)

Unfortunatly not. The print screen key doesnt capture the image. Is there a capture key for thief?
Besides I dont think a scrrenshot would adequately show what it is that Im seeing. It looks like a very dim ripple travelling across, up, down and diaganal. Its rippling changes each time i load the game.
Luckily I can still play it at 800x600 but a flawless higher resoulution would be cool.

He asked for a photo, not a screenshot. If the fault showed up on screenshot then the LCD would obviously not be the culprit.

That makes sense  I can be a little slow at times :p
I will get a photo ASAP

Does this happen at all higher resolutions than 800x600? Have you tried using the native resolution of the monitor?
If you haven't already, try using ddfix to set the resolution to the native monitor resolution... if that doesn't work try forcing vsync in your video driver.

Yeah any resolution higher than 800x600 causes the strange ripple effect.

Im not Sure what the native resolution is. How can i find this out? My TV Manual says it can support 1024x768 but I can run windows with a resolution of 1280x1024 but Thief\system shock 2 will not play on my monitor at that resolution, the screen goes blue  The only other Resolution it runs at is 800x600(perfectly) and 1024x768 but this resoulution causes the ripple effect
DDFIX has the same issue with any resolution higer than 800x600.
Ive tried looking around in my Graphics settings but I cannot find anything to do with vsynsc, Im using Driver version 6.14.0010.9371 (english) I believe this is the latest Version. Anyone know how to enable Vsync with the card mentioned above??
Thank you for your help and I hope continued support:thumb:

I dont have one and the people that do dont have there cables and ive no bloothtooth or infrared on my computer :o
besides I dont think a picture would show this problem clearly, the ripple is really dim and is only majorly visible occasionaly but it is still really annoying!
I think I need a new LCD that is built for gaming that has higer resolutions than 1024x768 (although windows runs perfectly at 1280x1024)
but other games run perfectly at 1024x768. Strange thing no?
Anyword on how to enable the Vsync?
EDIT: I found the Vsync, I had to change the adapter control panel to classic view to see all the options. Anyhow I changed the Vsync from 'Application Controlled' To 'ON' Which had no effect

If I recall that correctly, Thief and Thief 2 select a different color depth than what's highest nowadays. They use 16 bit color depth instead of 32 bit, the latter being standard for several years now. However, ddfix should select 32 bit color depth, so that is not the problem.
But you could try something else. I would recommend trying it without ddfix at first. If you have already installed ddfix, renaming the thief2.exe file on your hard disk to something else (e.g., thief2_ddfix.exe) and copying the original thief2.exe from your CD onto the hard disk should "deactivate" ddfix.
Once that's done, change the refresh rate for the 1024x768 resolution in combination with 16 bit color depth to 60 Hz. That's an old standard which should work fine on any monitor (except for old cathode-ray tube ones, but you have an LCD monitor anyway). If the refresh rate is higher, some flatscreen monitors have problems with that.
If 60 Hz cannot be selected or if it is already selected, check whether "43 Hz" or "43 Hz interlaced" is possible, an even older standard. Try it if possible.
Depending on which version of Windows you use and which driver, you may have to set the Windows desktop to 1024x768 resolution and 16 bit color depth before you can change that mode's refresh rate. With Windows 98 SE, for example, this is necessary. After you changed the refresh rate, you can switch back to whatever resolution you prefer for your desktop.
Once this trick is done, try Thief 2 again and see whether these lines or ripples are gone now. If they're not gone with 60 Hz refresh rate, they might vanish with 43 Hz interlaced (if that is possible at all with your card and its drivers).
