Alright, so I've got Thief 2 on my Vista Home Basic desktop, and got it working through DDFix and setting the core affinity.
Now, I've got a new laptop. For the life of me, I can't get it to run.
My hardware is as follows:
Presario V6000 running Vista Home Premium
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor TK-53 1.70 GHz
1.0 Gig of memory
NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
My setup went in this order:
Install
Update to 1.18
Run imagecfg affinity patch
Run Widescreen patch
Run DDFix (I've tried it both with and without the video fix checkbox checked)
I've also tried re-installing the Indeo codecs.
On a side note that I just thought of, through the use of DromEd, I CAN get into the game by going into game mode on one of my half-made missions. So, that leads me to believe that it's an issue with the videos. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I was right, it was the videos. As I was searching around, I came across (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122477) this. It provided a link to download some re-coded videos. I dl'ed them and tried to open them in WMP, but to no avail. But, in that above link, they mentioned the K-Lite codec pack. I found that, dl'ed and installed it, and now both sets of movies (the official ones that shipped with and the previously dl'ed ones) work like a charm. I guess it was just a case of Nvidia finally booting out any and all trace of support for the old Indeo codecs in their new drivers.
