Mod Problems
I've been having troubles getting mods to install properly. I have Invisible War v1.2 running on Windows 98.
All I want to do is add on some extra levels (or 'mods' as everything seems to be called with this game).
> 1st Problem:
I have installed the v1.2 patch, but I'm having trouble installing the multiplayer version 1.112fm patch (which at least Cassandra says it needs).
The patch goes through until the target directory. It offers the default C:\DeusEx (which is where my games is installed at). [The actual install puts it into the 'Programs' folder. After these problems, I uninstalled, and then reinstalled into the folder that seems to be expected; C:\DeusEx.]
When I accept this, it responds with a new dialog box saying essentially that it needs to have the directory where the game is installed at - which it is! I changed it to C:\DeusEx\System, but that didn't help. I've downloaded this patch twice, from two differnt servers, and same thing! So, I need help!! :{
BTW: One forum thread mentioned the games main.exe file as being called "deusex.exe". My file(s) is called DX2.exe & DX2Main.exe. Is there something I'm missing here?
> 2nd Problem: (sorry for the lengthy post - but I really need help :{)
The Mods; Zodiac (full version with parts 1-3), HotelCaronev1[1].14.exe & Cassandra.
These all installed with no problem, except that they didn't include their .exe files. I even watched and saw the Zodiac.exe being processed during the install, but when I went to the directory, it wasn't there.
In the C:\DeusEx\System folder there are 9 files called Zodiac*.* along with other files in other folders (same for the other mods) - just the .exe didn't/won't install.
These are huge files to be downloading, for them to then not install! I downloaded 3 copies of Cassandra from different servers, and they all do the same thing!
Is there anyone that knows why or, is there a way I can get a copy of those .exe files?
I'd really appreciate anything anyone can do to help.

well, your problem is simple.you are trying to install a deus ex1 patch/mod into deus ex2 folder.you will need the original game to play cassandra, not its (lame) sequel..

Aw c'mon ZB. He went through a long post 'cause he was new to the DX series. If you bash all the new people, who's going to give the community new blood? :erg: :angel:

Oh don't fall back on that. Trying to install not one, but several DX1 mods into DX:IW is a feat ripe for mockery regardless of newbishness.
Considering Invisible War's target demographic though, perhaps I shouldn't be too surprised.

I remember that time I tried installing Doom mods into my Maniac Mansion folder.... I kept wondering why my character had a BFG9000 in his inventory.
