hi,
i did a quick search and came up with nadda.
i just recently installed Windows XP so i could play the new Thief game, but until i get a new graphics card, it's still a no-go. so i thought i'd play some morrowind to keep myself occupied, especially since i also just upped my RAM, but whenever i try to play it i get an error message. i had no problems before, when i had Windows 98, except for some lagging, which the RAM was supposed to help with. the error message says "Morrowind has encountered a problem and needs to close" but doesn't give any details.
any ideas on what the problem might be and/or how to fix it?
thanks much,

um, never mind. i seem to have fixed the problem quite by accident, but all is now good.

By accident, do you mean that it miraculously started working and you have no clue what you might have done to fix it, or did you consciously resolve the problem albeit ‘swinging wildly’? I ask because you are not alone. Many of us are waiting to make a operating system upgrade to play Thief (after the patch is released), and would like to retain the option of playing Morrowind without incident. Could you share your solution to the problem?

You may just need to re-install Morrowind. Morrowind is compatible with XP so I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
He may have also needed to update his video card drivers or something to the XP ones, instead of Win 98 ones that may have been there.
