problem with nvidia card. - by tripwood

i have a tnt 2 card from Nvidia. some time ago i bought neverwinter nights, and to run it i needed to update my drivers, using the detonator driver from the (
http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=det_xp_win9x_29.42) nvidia site. the cutscenes were choppy as hell, but that's not the problem.
when i tried to ran deus ex just now, the game was incredibly choppy, and at about the same frame rate i'd get if i had launched 5 lams with a gep gun.. are there any known issues and fixes(hopefully) for me? i could always de-install my card and then re-install it to finish my game, but it'd be pretty unconvenient..
i'm not hoping for much, but some small help would be nice. :erg:

The best solution would probably be to uninstall your current Detonator driver and use NV Cleaner to remove all registry entries. Than reinstall the old Detonator driver.
When you get tired playing Deus, check out the **ULTIMATE TECH HELP GUIDE (v1.3 for v1.20)** for Neverwinter Nigts.
Good Luck!

heh! that site helped me fix my choppy video problem, thanks.
i'm not so sure i'll uninstall my video card just yet though, i'd rather be able to play both games at a time.

Installing new drivers may have reset your settings (It has happened to me before). Make sure things like Antialiasing haven't turned themselves on (or off).

woes upon tripw .. oh sorry, wrong thread :)
But I've got the same problem. Doesn't matter for me, though, I just play it with my Voodoo 2. Maybe not as beautiful as it could have been with my TNT2Ultra, but who cares.

-claw it's sort of frustrating how hardware you paid with good money, becomes even worse when they release universal drivers for their products. damn detonator, they don't even archive the old drivers.

You're right about the detonators .. but I have to admit I didn't pay a cent for this card :)

As Phydeaux mentioned, some options can get restored by installing new driver. If Deus runs choppy, try to play around with different OpenGL settings for your graphics card under "Display Properties". For example: if your card support FSAA, set it to off.

Official sites are crap. Try clickin' on this .

i've been tweaking for about an half hour now, and no results. i don't think it has to do with any of the files for Deux, it's the drivers. it didn't reset my settings either, because i alwaysleft them at default.
oh well, once i get tired of NWN i'll delete my drivers and re-install them from the cd.

Try changing your display device. I use a 32MB tnt2 64m with Detonators. Direct3D is almost unusable after instaling these drivers, but OpenGL works well.
