Hi,
I have been playing FMs for YEARS. As a matter of fact I have 2 older systems that I won't update because they are strictly used to run older games and DromEd. I Mainly play Thief2 FMs using GarrettLoader and sometimes DarkLoader.
My system specs:
WinXP SP3
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 and Ti4200 on the other system.
I have not updated/changed my video drivers in years due to that fact that T2 FMs ran great as is.
recently I have downloaded newer FMs:
-M.S. Gold - Rust
-Precious
Both FMs on BOTH computers load panel/New Game/Continue...Then Black Screen with health, gem and sound.
I have gone through this forum trying fixes from the past including DDFix, un-commenting safe_texture_manager....etc with no luck.
I have to replace my T2 folder from a backup to be able to play older FMs again.
Could this be due to an update/patch that I have missed that is required for some newer FMs?
Thank you!

That's right. I meant Tafferpatcher but my finger slipped.

LOL ! So, your location reads : 'Under my desk' ?
No wonder that you missed the NewDark patch!
As pointed out already, that patch apllies for both Thief1/Gold & Thief2.
And TFix (for T1/Gold) and TafferPatcher (for T2) is the way to go to bring you up to the latest level again,
where the patches have been included in a convenient way.
(Playing SystemShock2 as well ? Try SS2Tool v 5.0)

purple.. everything is PURPLE!
seriously, how do people manage to miss the stickies? aanyway, you will have to run in the dx6 safemode with that ti4200, edit cam_ext.cfg and comment out (add ; at the beginning of) the use_d3d_display line. there is also a new fmselect, it's recommended for new FMs, it will be activated when you uncomment (delete ; at the beginning of) the fm line in cam_mod.ini for a change.

As R Soul, Brethren and gnartsch said, I needed the TafferPatcher.
I did a clean Thief2 install and ran TafferPatcher_TMA_207_beta.exe.
No additional edits were needed.
Thanks
