Problem in UW when I talk to characters. - by belch_burp

In Ultima Underworld: The Stysian Abyss, my computer keeps on aborting the game when I try to talk to any character. When my computer sends me back to windows, it says: Error code D012. Everything else seems to work perfectly. Also when I try to install the game manually, it also has some sort of error when loading LHA.exe or something, but I am able to install it another way though. My main problem is how to be able to talk to characters!

Try playing the game through DOS. Exit windows properly (don't mean dos prompt here) and then pray :P

Is there any other means of averting this bug?

Answering my own question:
Get the PC Gamer downloadable version of the game. It does not appear to have this bug.
My other tip learnt today: look at your config.sys file (c:\config.sys) and replace the "noems" with "RAM" in the line about emm386.exe
If there is not line about emm386.exe, add this line:
device=c:\windows\emm386.exe RAM
This got me around memory problems.
No I'm trying to get sound too. Greedy bastard, eh? 8)
